An adult sleep issue

I looked to post in the sleep topic, but I thought it would get lost amongst discussion of young child sleep issues, so I'm here.

Most nights I will wake up between 10 and 20 minutes after first falling asleep. When I wake up it's a gentle wake up - there's no muscle spasm or exploding head syndrome type noise or light.

I am sure I am properly asleep because I have normally had a dream that I remember very clearly - before I manage to fall back asleep I would be able to narrate the dream. I don't believe that I am lucid dreaming as I don't think I've ever been able to 'control' the content of the dream. Nonetheless, they aren't scary nightmares and I don't think the content of the dream is a motivation to wake up.

Does this happen to anyone else? It's been a feature of my life for a long time now (since my teens at least) but I'm starting to feel it happen more often and more consistently which is very slightly concerning to me. Does anyone have any suggestions of what might allow me to sleep right through?

How long are you away for? I found this happened more and more once perimenopause started. I take Chelated Magnesium before going to bed and it helps. They call it nature's sedative.

I’m awake for 5-10 minutes normally, although occasionally I have problems getting back to sleep and have to switch on a podcast to help me.

I’ve heard of magnesium but it doesn’t really explain why I consistently take two attempts to get to sleep. It happens agnostic to whether I am exhausted or sprightly.
