Bacterial sepsis?

Does anyone have any knowledge or experience of bacterial sepsis?
My mum is terminally ill and currently hospitalised - the doctors have noted on her charts it is ‘clearly bacterial sepsis’. However, my understanding is that this is different to neutropenic sepsis as they have ruled it out and actually her white blood cell count is high rather than low.
There isn’t much online about bacterial sepsis so just wondering if people had any first hand experience - thank you.

From what I understand (lay person) neutropenic sepsis is unique to patients having cancer treatment.

Bacterial sepsis is the standard you see/read about. It’s when your body is losing the fight against a bacterial infection. I had this after having my second child.

You really need to speak to your Mum’s medical team to ask them what it means for her.

Sepsis, infection, and cancer

Sepsis is a serious complication of an infection that can be life threatening. Fever might be the first sign of an infection, or you might have other symptoms.
