Tonies

Are they worth the money? I don't really know what to get DS for their second birthday and two people I know are getting these for their DC. Is it better to get them from the actual store or smyths? I couldn't work out what was the better deal!

I think they are worth the money, more so when the actual Tonie figures are on promotion.

My DD 5 has hers on a lot, and it’s really made a difference at bed time.

Last time I checked Smyths and Tonie website were same price. Boots was doing 3 for 4 on figures.

My daughter was given one when she was 2 1/2, she is now almost 5 and still uses it. So def worth buying.
I love the creative tonies that you can add your own choice of songs to.

We went for a yoto player because it seems to be longer lasting than a Tonie box, you can get story cards suitable up to the age of 12. It does the same thing as a TonieBox otherwise.

I would get a yoto instead it will last a lot longer.

Best to buy the boxes/character bundles on prime day on Amazon. I got one with 5 Disney characters for not much more of the price of a box on its own. My kids love them 3 & 2.

Everyone will tell you to get a Yoto, but my boy LOVES his Tonie box and we’re about to buy a second one for when he sleeps at his dad’s.

The Tonies seem to hold value too, they’re not much cheaper second hand on Vinted.

Our DC adore our Toniebox - didn’t ask to watch tv once in the first 10 days that we had it! It’s a regular bedtime feature and has been brilliant for their storytelling and vocab. Now that they’re a bit older it’s great that there are more older kids tonies to choose - Matilda and James and the Giant Peach etc.

Another one saying get a Yoto instead 😂

I think tonies are better marketed / they have a physical presence in stores and I can see the appeal to very young children of the physical characters. I think they often do good introductory deals where you get characters v cheap when you buy the box. But in general the actual toys are very expensive - about twice the price of Yoto cards for the same content. And if you lose them they’re gone. Whereas you can make copies of Yoto cards on the app so where we’ve lost a couple we still have the content.

However, both toys are great and so much the same job so would definitely recommend getting one!
