DH showed me this photo, and I thought it was a chocolate cake.

Our local aquarium has these, DS was very excited to hear of one in the wild in the UK. They are very odd looking

MonsteraMama · 16/02/2024 10:37

Awww he's so ugly, I love him.

Poor little chap dumped by irresponsible owners, I don't know why people get exotic pets and are then surprised they're more complicated than the average house cat.

I hope he's happy in his new, warmer home.

EffieeBriest · 16/02/2024 10:54

Agree that hope he’s found a nice home. Apparently he’s usually native to southern states of the US and can grow much bigger. This one is a tiddler.

Jokes aside, that is actually a very dangerous turtle. They have a split second bite reflex and can easily remove fingers, the bigger ones can take a whole hand off.

It was an incredibly stupid thing to do to release that.

EffieeBriest · 16/02/2024 11:04

@Hereyoume yes I believe it’s an invasive species and actually quite nasty in its ability to injure.

Apparently can grow to 12 stone….not something I’d ever like to meet 🫣

LoseLooseLucy · 16/02/2024 11:14

Ugly little bugger isn’t he 😬

EffieeBriest · 16/02/2024 11:18

Is it me or does it look like an Alsatian dog head ?

SinnerBoy · 16/02/2024 11:24

12 stone?!!! Goodness me!

Wetblanket78 · 18/02/2024 12:04

I said the same when the vets posted a pic. Looks scary as fuck. I live in Barrow so been bombarded with updates about this creature.
