Can you still buy regular 'old fashioned' TVs?

Visiting my very, very elderly FiL and have discovered that his TV has died. I'd like to replace it but don't know the first thing about TVs. The old one is one that's connected to an areal on the roof and just plugs in, showing only terrestrial channels.
Is it possible to buy regular, old fashioned TVs these days? Or can I buy a newer 'smart' TV and use it as an old fashioned TV?
I just don't think he'd cope with a new, fancy TV as he was barely managing to operate the remote on the old one.
Any ideas?

You have to have freeview now I believe since the broadcasts went digital only.

Can you get one from a shop that will deliver it and set it all up for him? That’s what I did for my elderly parents and they have an aerial on the roof. It’s straight forward and has loads of channels and they are happy with it.

Amazon have a few non smart tvs under manufacturer "Cello". If you put "non smart tvs" in the Amazon search bar, they'll come up. They come with Freeview built in, so should be fine just to plug in the aerial and give you/them a decent choice of basic TV channels.

We've been looking for one for MIL who has dementia. There's no way she'd cope with a Smart TV as she can barely change channel and adjust the sound on the simple remote control (we had to buy one of those very simple ones with just channel and sound as she kept pressing random buttons and couldn't get back to the TV, and that's on an old fashioned TV. Anything different and she goes into meltdown. A Smart TV is the last thing we'd ever buy her, even if it was set up - she'd soon be pressing buttons and end up down several menu settings and unable to get back.

Have you got the make/model of his current (dead) TV?
They can be repaired or you might be able to find the same model on eBay?

(My Dad was the same!) Luckily when his TV died he was already in smart TVs so we just had to find one which would work with his current remote. Which luckily we did, and then bought a spare in case!

Thanks all. I'm looking online now and reading reviews; I think we'll probably find something suitable locally now that I know what I should be looking for ‐super helpful!
