Has anyone been? Would you recommend?

We have 2 DC aged 7 and 5 and would be going at Easter.

Thanks!

My kids love it for a day trip. We go to the arcades and the fairground which is the cheapest I’ve ever been to. It’s got a long shingle beach by the arcade. Not sure I’d want to spend a week there but apparently there’s a nice sandy beach as well.

Maybe for a day trip, but no longer 😬

Friends live nearby and often go for a day trip and they sound great

We had a few days there a couple of years ago. The beach isn't pushchair friendly at all (we had a very old dog in one) and no promenade as such to walk along. We found a couple of nice pubs with really good food. The Ferry Boat Inn was great. I'd like to go again without the pushchair.

I had a caravan there and loved it. It’s a lovely place and well located to have day trips to the surrounding area.

No. I really don't like it.

OldTinHat · 14/02/2024 21:31

No. Takes forever to drive down from the A27 and nothing there. You'd be better off in Chichester or Portsmouth.

It's way past its glory days. Like, way way way past 😬

Great funfair for kids with rides and amusements and the fish and chip shop there is fab. Lots of beach along Hayling but mostly shingle, though there is a beautiful sandy part at the end of the island next to the Ferryboat Inn. You can also get the little ferry across the water to the Portsmouth side. Lovely child friendly pub called Inn on the Beach and lots of little shacks for ice creams and bacon rolls all along the beach! There is also an outside gym and a little miniature railway that runs up and down the beach which is great for kids.
You're also close to Portsmouth and Southsea which has another great funfair and lots of amusements too for kids. Also lots of museums and Gunwharf Quays is a great place for shopping.

as people say, combine it with Portsmouth and Isle of Ride

Isle of Wight

We stayed at the Parkdean park there. We went a little out of season (October) so the beach type amusements were only half a day but I imagine at Easter they will be in full swing. It's perfectly located for days out to Portsmouth Historic Dockyard, Isle of Wight, Spinnaker Tower and Bognor Regis. There are some lovely places to eat out, there was one lovely little pub just across the water on the way in , I think it was called the Yew Tree or something! We had a lovely break.
