Couldn't see a thread about this yet so hopefully I've not duplicated something!

I'm making crepe style pancakes as have the American style all the time.

savoury with Emmental and pulled ham hock

sweet with vanilla cinnamon cream cheese and mango

Will prob make my fiance some kind of chocolate peanut butter concoction...

Lemon and sugar. Can't beat it!

Mumofyellows · 13/02/2024 17:53

1 sugar and lemon, one Hazelnut Choc spread ( the Bonne Maman one cause I prefer it to Nutella!) with banana 😋

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 13/02/2024 17:54

Lemon and sugar
OH will have orange and sugar

I was going to do some mushroom ones first but cba, so salad first for vitamins and then pancakes to follow.

Strawberry and raspberry compote. They'll be for desert.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 13/02/2024 17:55

Stilton and leek sound delicious.

Meadowfinch · 13/02/2024 17:56

A choice of

lemon juice & brown sugar
Maple syrup and crushed hazelnuts
Bottled blackberries & creme fraiche

Jellycatspyjamas · 13/02/2024 17:57

I’ve discovered maple butter from M&S which is glorious on pancakes.

FeralNun · 13/02/2024 17:57

Spinach, bacon and cheese, topped with cheese sauce and baked. Yum!

Although if I was on my own it would be a great pile of them with blackcurrant jam.

sprigatito · 13/02/2024 17:58

Savoury - bacon and cheddar or smoked ham and crumbled Cheshire cheese

Sweet - lemon and sugar, Nutella and banana, cherry compote and whipped cream

Ilovelurchers · 13/02/2024 17:59

I only remembered it was pancake day after I had already shopped for dinner (steak followed by trifle - doing Valentine's Day early as we are child free tonight).

Might get my daughter to do some tomorrow instead - she's a better cook than me anyway and won't get stressed out about the need to toss them like I would.

If we have them, it will be sugar and lemon if down to me. Dd might introduce some fancy-pants topping tho, you never know.

User373433 · 13/02/2024 18:03

Just had mushrooms and spinach fried in garlic butter and a little cheese for my savoury filling. Wish I'd added horseradish instead inspired by above poster. Mushroom haters in the house having salami. Raspberries and squirty cream with hundreds and thousands for sweet.

We usually have sugar and lemon, with the occasional dollop of maple syrup, but tonight we are breaking with tradition and not having pancakes. We are having cottage pie.

Ditch the mash and have pancakes instead 😋

cliffdiver · 13/02/2024 18:29

Breakfast was American with syrup.

Lunch was crepes with spinach, ham and cheese.

This evening, the starter was crispy duck with all the trimmings.

Pudding was lemon & sugar.

Eviebeans · 13/02/2024 18:32

Homemade cherry jam

HardStareBear · 13/02/2024 18:34

Dutch style here. Butter & icing sugar. My kids like Nutella, or lemon and sugar, or syrup.

PurBal · 13/02/2024 18:35

We’ve lost the lemon we bought specifically. Neither of us remembers unpacking it but we both remember picking one up and packing it (we did it as part of a family “outing” to get the pancake things)

So it’s strawberry yoghurt and banana. Or chocolate shavings and marshmallows.

PurBal · 13/02/2024 18:36

@cliffdiver what are “all the trimmings” for crispy duck?

We are also having cottage pie, but will have pancakes for pudding - with sugar and lemon.

GrouchyKiwi · 13/02/2024 18:39

The children wanted both American style pancakes and our usual crêpes.

We had bacon and maple syrup with the former, then I caramelised some pears to have with the crêpes. We also had jam, golden syrup or lemon and sugar with the crêpes, and DD1 had one with peanut butter.

crumpet · 13/02/2024 18:39

Lemon and sugar. It’s the law.

AhBiscuits · 13/02/2024 18:40

Lime and honey.

themusingsofaninsomniac · 13/02/2024 18:41

AhBiscuits · 13/02/2024 18:40

Lime and honey.

I just did lime and brown sugar in an attempt to round off with a more traditional one, based on what was in!

Fiance had crunchy peanut butter, nutella, dark and milk chocolate chips, and maple syrup (feral!) 😅

BCBird · 13/02/2024 18:43

None here😩 normally would go with sugar and lemon.

TheDandyLion · 13/02/2024 18:47

Cherry pie filling and cheap vanilla ice cream. Just like Little Chef used to make.

Caswallonthefox · 13/02/2024 18:49

Lemon and sugar. Anything else is not normal in my house.
If it was a crepe that'd be totally different.
And American pancakes do not taste good with lemon and sugar on.
