We normally see a little mouse over the winter but it’s fleeting and there’s no sign of him in the rooms and then he’s gone by spring.

We’ve got one this year who is BOLD. I feel like I’m sat in HIS living room. He runs backwards and forwards to the cupboard under the stairs and sometimes just sits in the hall looking at me.

this in itself doesn’t bother me but my god there is just mouse shit everyone. I pull the sofa out and it’s a poo party.

i got loads of those electronic deterrent plug ins which worked for a while but now he’s back.

please link me with your guaranteed to work mouse traps that are child friendly please?

My cats are forever bringing in live mice. I cannot kill them as I refuse to kill anything so I use a humane trap from Amazon. I've caught every single mouse within a few hours and then take it back over to the fields. I always find a little piece of chocolate attracts them.

We do this with the mice our cat brings in, and always put a Malteser in the trap. I like to think it’s the same mouse each time, and it has an arrangement with the cat who helps him in so he can get his chocolate fix!

The humane traps are great.
I have several so I can set a couple up while another couple are drying from being washed out.
I also agonise over how near or far to release.

Just to update that I did catch him in a humane trap. I took him a mile away into the woodland with lots of brush so hopefully he is ok. He was absolutely covered in Nutella so im hoping I didnt just send him into the wild as a delicious snack.

No sign of any other mouse so as suspected, was just the one,

I do sort of miss him, if he didnt shit everywhere I would have let him be!

That last update made me laugh OP.

What brings me here?...was chilling after a lovely soak in the bath late last night. Stopped watching the ipad and was just enjoying the serenity when I saw a tiny brown mouse scurry past my bed into a large cupboard I have which has lots of external holes and gaps!
I screamed and promptly trawled youtube for advice and guidance. At 1am I contacted about 50 pest control agencies and gave the job to the first guy who called me at 630am.

He arrived at 9am, identified the entry points (kitchen) and will be back in a week to fill the gaps and holes.

I've just purchased some of the traps noted above from Amazon and OH will be putting them down tomorrow when they arrive.

With being surrounded by forest and a nature reserve at the end of the road, I'm suprised it's taken 3 years for me to see one. Slightly hopeful that it's just the one as only a few droppings so far.

Pray for me 🙏🏾

I hope your mouse hunt is as successful as the Op's @TheRealKatnissEverdeen and you just have the one to return to the wild. Good luck!
Ps: a mouse is góod, it means you don't have a rat!!

You're seeing the tip of the iceberg.

Buy snap traps.

If you don't want to kill them, soak cotton balls in peppermint oil and set them out around the walls, under the fridge and oven, under the stairs, at the back of kitchen cupboards, in your airing cupboard, behind radiators and wardrobes, in the attic - everywhere your small horde of mice is making itself at home.

You should also buy some craft steel wool and use it to bung all holes and gaps you can find between walls and floor, around windows, pipes, etc.

Thanks @Mysa74 @mathanxiety Pest control came yesterday morning and put poison down. He was confident this was all that is needed but, after reading every mouse related thread on MN, I decided to buy both snaptraps and humane types.
Pest control will be back in a week to inspect and seal the holes.
Hopefully not long to go.
