What is your budget for this half term?

We have £67 to last us for the 9 days, including food. I have 2 DD’s. We have been invited to a trampoline park tomorrow and have been invited to go ice skating with another friend, but think I’ll have to politely decline the ice skating. Every school holiday is the same, and I inwardly cringe when the teachers ask us what we are going to be getting up to over the break. Please tell me I’m not the only one. I budget so carefully but never manage to do more than scrimp.

No budget but no money either! You're not alone.

We're going to a friends today for few hours. Then Wednesday we're meeting another friend at the park if the weather is OK. Otherwise we aren't going anywhere or doing anything. Certainly nothing that costs.

Friend meet ups at the park are always a brilliant idea. We try and go to as many different parks as we can in each holiday- we have been to some great ones!

Although I should add, it's not the same for every school holiday. In the summer we're going away for two weeks. And we'll do one big ticket trip either in May half term or Easter Holidays. Something like a theme park or zoo, etc for the day. I save my clubcard vouchers for this.

But besides that, every other day will be parks, the beach if weather is nice, staying home, etc.

Definitely easier in the warmer months. Much harder to do, October Christmas and Feb!

How old are your dd's? If you happen to have National Trust membership they tend to be good for a run around and picnic (weather dependent). If no NT membership then lots of the country parks round here have trails and things on.
Kids cinema mornings are also a bargain, not the latest films but you still get cinema vibes. Swimming is also on the plan, good for wet days.
Then play dates, baking, arts and crafts at home, bike rides etc. Let them get involved in the boring everyday stuff, for me washing the car is a massive ball ache but kids find it the best job ever!
