Paris : Disney help

HolidayPrepIsStressful · 12/02/2024 00:22

Planning on Disney next Feb.
Flying from Gatwick or Heathrow. To CDG.
Have seen people reccomend the partner hotels at val de Europe as can shuttle to the park.

I know there's a fb page. But i have family on there who will Gatecrash and we want to take dcs away on our own for once.

1st time abroad /plane for dcs 5 and 6.
So im pretty nervous

Seen a couple of partner hotels, with shuttle, any reccomendations. As long as clean I'm happy.

How to get from airport to hotel. Is it worth the £180 transfer or is there an easier way.

Plan. Sunday depart to arrive mid afternoon, so would just go to shops, eat, chill.

Monday park
Tuesday park
Wednesday into Paris Eiffel tower etc
Thurs Park for parade= late.
Fri hopefully an evening flight so shops etc before heading to airport. Do hotels hold luggage of check out is Earley?

Ive also never flown as an adult without in charge nor has dh. We were teens when last went abroad for
So this is all pretty daunting atm

Hotel elysee is very quiet.
And certainly less packed than the Disney hotels

Waltzers · 12/02/2024 08:50

We stayed at Villages Nature which was a good option with kids. There's regular buses to Disney and plenty to do on site if you want a rest day.

EDUCATIONCPD · 12/02/2024 08:51

@HolidayPrepIsStressful i think village nature is also excellent option

Davy Crocket is perfect with children, it’s a 10-15 min drive to the park.
the lo have a separate bedroom.
the swimming pool is lovely, there’s a nice playground for them.
if you want to you can cook basic meals in the lodge.

We normally fly into CDG although last time flew to Beauvais as much cheaper and only about 30 mins further drive than CDG.
We hire a car from the airport and stock up at the supermarket at Val de Europe.
We live NW though, if we lived further south, we would probably use Eurotunnel and take our own car.

FanSpamTastic · 12/02/2024 09:39

We have done the drive to Disney Paris - it's quite easy. Also stayed at Davy Crockett - loved it.

One thing to consider in February is that is ski season and a lot of people use the Eurostar and drive down to the Alpes. The tunnel will be heaving on the Friday and Saturday of a half term week both ways. But that might have died down by the Sunday. Just be aware it might be busy on the way back.

MojoDojoCasaHouse · 12/02/2024 09:40

We’ve done DLP three times. Driven, flown and Eurostar. Always stayed off site (couldn’t cope with sharing one room in DLP hotel). Used Val d’Europe for food shopping. We’ve stayed at a holiday park about 20 minutes away, at the Adagio Aparthotel and an apartment near Val d’Europe. Always a day or two in Paris as well.

You can overthink this. There isn’t one perfect way to do this. Decide on your budget and priorities. Your kids will absolutely love whatever you plan.

Floralnomad · 12/02/2024 16:12

We have done DLP hundreds of times . When our kids were small we did Davy Crockett a few times , the pool is quite nice and they used to have ponies etc for small kids . It’s literally one motorway junction away from Disney so about 10 minutes . You get free parking at the parks so you can always leave the car there and get the train into Paris etc .

Piscesmumma1978 · 12/02/2024 16:27

Op set yourself up a second Facebook and block them all. That’s what I do for groups that I don’t want family etc seeing.

We’re going this year and I’m not telling anyone when. I want to holiday with just my family not extended. The Facebook is so helpful x

mitogoshi · 12/02/2024 16:29

We have stayed at the Disney village hotels - sequoia lodge and Newport bay at various points. Driven and taken the train (used to be direct, not sure if it's been reinstated).

Piscesmumma1978 · 12/02/2024 16:32

Ps I took my older two on my own a while ago. I flew from Heathrow and got the magic shuttle bus. It was really easy.

I would be careful on the rer. I found it really confusing so I’d book excursions to Paris?

It’s definitely worth it!! x

CaptainHammer · 12/02/2024 16:37

So Helena and Martyn on YouTube drive regularly to DLP and I’m sure they’ve stayed in Davy Crockett too. They show the whole process of checking in for the tunnel and tips on driving etc. It helped me feel a bit less nervous about driving instead of our usual train!

Orworseexpelled · 12/02/2024 17:41

This is just the thread I need.
I'm contemplating driving but I will be on my own, it feels quite daunting. I was thinking of booking the villages nature.
I've been before, stayed at the disneyland hotel and flew but the prices are high and feel wasteful so looking for an alternative

Floralnomad · 12/02/2024 20:19

@Orworseexpelled the drive is very straightforward , particularly if you use the toll road . There are lots of stopping places and restaurant stops . If you use motorways in this country the French ones are a doddle by comparison. We always drive now , although we did do the train a couple of times when it went direct with no changes . We still stay at the Disneyland hotel if it’s open as I find the convenience worth the cost .

HolidayPrepIsStressful · 12/02/2024 20:33

We decided davy is the best choice for us. Lovely pool. We'll have the car so no baggage allowance issues, transfers etc.
Stayed b4 as a teen And its 10 min or so drive to supermarket. Which will have far more choice than petrol station.
Early entry pass is good too for us.

Thank you for all your help

Good choice @HolidayPrepIsStressful , hope you and your kids have a great time . Don’t forget to book any restaurants you want in the parks as soon as you can do so as they do get booked up .

HolidayPrepIsStressful · 13/02/2024 14:40

Yes will do thank you

SA3rules · 13/02/2024 16:30

I'd honestly get Eurostar- easy change at Lille and then you're in the park. Then stay at Sequoia lodge or one of the onsite hotels. Easy to pop back and forth from the parks and no need to rely on shuttles etc. Can take snacks from home if you want.

EDUCATIONCPD · 13/02/2024 16:54

@HolidayPrepIsStressful

Sure, a drive anywhere will give you anyone more choice than what's in the immediate vicinity. 😂.

We had our car and car parking at Disney with our pass but we appreciated some car free days with a massive supermarket a few steps away, and the train and shuttle into the park.

I would also strongly recommending going on fb and blocking the family to double check before you book. Everything around Disney is designed to fleece you hence we decided on the magic plus pass in the end and went a... Lot over the course of one year. It was only a few visits in that we really got the hang of it and how to make the most of each day
Ultimately as ever it comes down to what people can afford and what level of quality they want.
I'm always coming at this stuff from an ultra saving v quality mindset and I do over think it and do excessive research because we are on tight budgets. I appreciate others maybe more relaxed and this maybe a side than holiday.

Over all efteling is better and cheaper and more magical definitely check that out.
Years ago whilst wistfully trying to price up and work out Disney on here... Many posters came into say... Why bother with Disney efteling is better. We couldn't afford Disney at that time so we did go to efteling. The rest is history.

Good luck op.
