Allergy to vibrator

This is a strange one but has anyone had an allergic reaction to a vibrator? Recently bought a rampant rabbit type vibrator and have noticed after I have used it I become extremely itchy and irritated around my vulva for a few days afterwards. shame I'm now going to have to stop using it as it was amazing! anyone else had a similar reaction?

Apologies if I'm stating the obvious but did you give it a thorough clean with anti bacterial wipes before using?

Does it have any type of latex covering on it? That’s quite a common allergy.

yes made sure I gave it a good wash before use and afterwards. After some googling apparently it can happen to some women especially those who have a latex allergy which I remember having a bit of a reaction to latex condoms in early days of relationship with dp.

Can you use a none latex durex over it?

GigiAnnna · 12/02/2024 10:07

Did you use lube with it? Could be that.. If it was the material of the rabbit itself maybe you could think about replacing it with another made from a different material. You can get them in different vatiations of silicone or soft plastic. If the rabbit you bought was a cheaper version from somewhere like Amazon then you might be better spending more on something with medical grade silicone.

I would get a silver bullet.
Sounds like a latex allergy to me

I do sometimes find if I've ahem had it on a strong setting I feel a bit itchy after, feels like a friction thing

EBearhug · 12/02/2024 10:19

I would try a non-latex condom on it.

You can also get vibratory made of different plastics - or dildos from glass or metal or ceramic, which are all likely to be less allergenic. However, if it's the particular mobile functionality of the rabbit you want, then you are more likely to have softer plastics, which may contain more latex. There are also issues around phthalates, used in some softer plastics, which may be carcinogenic.

Might be worth looking at a site like Lovehoney to see if you can search for non-latex vibrators. I don't know if you can - it's not a search I've tried.

I find if I haven't used mine for a while, I get sore and itchy too. If I don't leave it too long til the next "use", then I'm ok... ❤
