Help settle an argument re: who is bendy/ non-bendy

So DS and I can both turn our legs/ feet in so that the toes of each foot are pointing at each other. (Hopefully photo will attach to show what I mean.)

DH can't, he can't even turn his feet halfway in.

According to DH DS and I are both weirdly bendy and it's not normal and we look like broken dolls when we do it.

But DS and I think DH is the unusual one not being able to turn his feet in.

So attempting a poll to see who's right.

OP- I'm not sure what the purpose of the post is or why you seem to boast about your bendiness? Have you considered that you might have a genetic disorder such as Ehlers-Danos, hypermobility or other mobility issue you have passed on? Some of these issues can have serious medical consequences and side issues! I really hope this isn't the case and you and your DS do not have any long term issues, but it isn't just as simple as 'I'm bendy!'

The point of the post was to see who was more 'normal'. The OP or their partner

Concestor · 11/02/2024 21:26

I can do this but I'm hypermobile. DH is the opposite and can barely bend at all 😆

OneWillBurn · 11/02/2024 21:26

@ChazsBrilliantAttitude Not particularly bendy in any other way.

DS though can put his foot on his head, so possibly hypermobility there.

I can do the same as you, but I could do the splits when I was younger and now have weirdly bendy thumbs, elbows, knees etc so probably hypermobile.

As someone else said, as fun as it is don't keep doing it as you will mess your joints up (splits was my party trick when younger and now my hips feel like they pop out of their joint and need jiggling to get back in), ache in the cold weather and click and grind like crazy

OneWillBurn · 11/02/2024 21:30

@CJ4713 Not boasting. 🙄Just wondering.

And seeing as my poll is 51% "yes" at the moment, it looks like I'm not unusually bendy.

I’m hypermobile (EDS) I can do that. DS can almost turn his feet backwards, that’s really yucky to see!

Dexterrolledoffthesofa · 11/02/2024 21:41

Well, I can wiggle my eyes.........

4Bangles · 11/02/2024 21:42

I cant do that but i can extend my feet in a ballet point so flat they are just an extension of a flat shin, my thumbs can bend back to my wrists and i can put my legs behind my neck. And also flat palms to the floor while standing without bending my knees. Ehlers danlos girly 🤷🏻‍♀️

DrumRolling · 11/02/2024 21:48

EDS here too so yes I can do this, also turn the other way with heels touching. Neither dp or dc can do it though

CJ4713 · 11/02/2024 21:50

And if you read the replies, many of those those that have said YES in your poll, have EDS or a hypermobility syndrome!

OneWillBurn · 11/02/2024 21:55

@4Bangles I can extend my feet in a ballet point like that too. I had ballet lessons for years as a child and I think toe pointing was the only thing I was good at.

I was always brilliant and bending for ballet and gymnastics, never needed to warm up! And can still go into the splits, just tried 😂 the bones cooperate but the muscles hurt a bit 😅
