How many steps do you do a day?

I've just started a new job as a nanny which has been my profession for over 20 years. But this job involves so much walking with three children and all the different drops offs and pick ups.
My feet are buggered! My phone says I average 24000 steps a day. I hope I'll just get used to it..
It makes me think of nurses and other jobs where you're on your feet all day. How do you cope?!

At least 14k.
20k a few times a week. My feet have never hurt, even on 30k.
Are you wearing decent trainers? Running trainers like Saucony, Brooks or Hoka might be a good idea.

Around 18k during the week as a sahm and 5k at the weekend.

Oh my goodness, what do you do that involves so much walking?!
I have Ecco trainers which are supposed to be good. But thank you for the suggestions. I'll take a look.

I do around the same as you OP but then I work as a dog walker so it's to be expected! I agree with a PP, it may be your footwear that is causing the problem. I feel tired on busy days but my feet don't hurt.

I work in a social care environment, I average around 18000 a day, more on days I go to the gym, less on my paperwork day.

And I agree that you need some decent walking trainers.

This week I've averaged 17,000 which is a little low because I drove the kids to school 2 days this week because it was chucking it down.

Highest last week was 29,000 which was because I walked the 4 mile round trip school run, 6 hours at work on my feet then I did a 5K run.

Today I'll do sod all, no running, work or school run, just a short walk to the gym to do weights for 2 hours and pottering around the house doing housework.

Roughly 40k, that's including a 45 minute walk each way to/from work, on my feet non stop apart from breaks for 12 hours

Put a tennis ball on the floor and roll your foot over it with quite a bit of pressure, focusing on the arch of your foot, really helps relieve aches, try to do it every day after work.

40k a day?! Golly! That's a lot! I've been doing Epsom baths each evening so I hope that will help...
