Not to be too controversial here, but I ended up going with a simple flea comb and doing a thorough comb of my cat twice a day; get the little blighters into a glass of water and make sure they drown. I have found flea infestations come in occasional cycles. My cats over the years have only had that happen a few times, the rest of the time they are flea free. Many years ago I decided to stop putting chemicals on my kitties and comb them off instead.

I get stronghold plus from the vet and treat regularly. Have also used advocate in the past

I get the comb system but dont have time. So a spot on treatment I can buy is better

We bathed our cat with flea shampoo and then used spot on, she caught them at the vets. We also vacuumed a lot and brushed her. They have a life cycle . I’m the only one that got bitten, we had a couple of waves of them.

We have completely given up with frontline, as have other people we know. Advantage works well for us ( we are rural) and I think the ones from the Vet tend to work well.

Try and use a different flea treatment to previous ones as they get used to the chemicals. It is a bit time consuming when you use a flea comb but it does get rid of them quickly and effectively. Dip the comb into warm water with some washing up liquid and wipe off on bit kitchen roll .
It's beyond satisfying if they have a serious flea problem. Remember treat your soft furnishing and their beds and hoover daily .

Cat never gets them, in fact he's literally only had them once in 8 years!
I got Frontline to use so will give it a go

I find tablets easier, less hassle, less worrying about whether you've got it all on properly etc. I get credelio tablets from the vet.

Sugarfish · 11/02/2024 12:49

I got a prescription for stronghold plus from the vet. The spot on types you can buy from pet shops did nothing to help treat my boys, but the stronghold sorted it out straight away. I also used that spray you can get to freeze eggs round the house. I forget the name but if you do go to the vet they’ll be able to recommend something.

edited as I’ve remembered it’s called indorex

AndrewPreview · 11/02/2024 12:53

We use Felpreva spot on from the Vets, it covers fleas and all internal parasites and lasts 3 months.

If you're getting bitten you probably also need to spray the house, Indorex is really good.

Shopper727 · 11/02/2024 12:55

I think one of my cats has a mite so vets for her but just treated the dog and once I find my other cats will do them too. We’ve used frontline plus this time but will order stuff from the vets next time. The indorex is good I’ve used it before.

Jasmin1971 · 11/02/2024 12:59

Get the ones from the vet. Please x

DejaMooo · 11/02/2024 13:03

Indorex is fab for the house and also recommend stronghold from the vets

Belovedbagle · 11/02/2024 20:33

Whatever you do, do not use Bob Martin. See various groups on Facebook of hundreds of people whose cats were killed by this product, as was my neighbour's cat. They are trying to get it banned.

Lighteningstrikes · 11/02/2024 23:55

Advantage
You can literally see them dropping off dying.
Very satisfying 😊
