Olaplex No3 on bleached damaged hair

Anyone ever used Olaplex no3 on overprocessed bleach damaged hair and got good results? My hair has been bleached several times with highlights to get it to platinum blonde. I get a high lift colour usually only to roots every 4 to 6 weeks as hair naturally isn’t that dark so I’m able to achieve platinum with it. The last time I got my hair done (last week) my hairdresser took the colour from roots to ends to brighten dull ends (my mids to ends of hair have struggled to lift as well because I have had ginger on them and before that it was black although I still keep ginger colour underneath for two tone). When she did this my hair was really the perfect platinum that I wanted but when I washed it a few days later I realised how damaged that had made my hair. My hair had been damaged beforehand because of bleach but now it’s gummy when wet and dry matted when dry. I generally take good care of my hair. I use good moisture products on it and always use heat protectant etc but haven’t used an olaplex product in years but now I’ve ordered no3 which you use on damp hair as a pre shampoo treatment. I also have mid to long hair and I plan to get 2 inches cut off it next month when I get my roots done.

im due a baby next month and worry I’ll not have time to do weekly hair treatments unless I fit them when my husband is home. I know im going to get a lot of comments saying go darker or leave my hair but I’ve worked so hard since July to get my hair this blonde and I’m not dulling it down. I won’t be getting anymore bleach/colour onto the ends of my hair. Only the roots will get done which won’t cause further damage. I’m not naturally pretty and have pale dull skin so having my hair platinum is the only thing that’s gonna brighten me up if I can’t do my makeup or have my tan done regularly if this baby is particularly needy. Yes I know I will get comments saying that once baby is here I’ll not care but I know myself that I will as my appearance is bad it really affects my mental health especially if I don’t bounce back skinny after having my baby.

Use aphgoee two step protein treatment you can get on amazon

Wouldn't recommend olaplex. It ruined my hair and its taken two years so get it back to 70% of what it was.

I’m sorry Olaplex ruined your hair. Which ones did you use? How did you get your hair back into good condition

I recommend anything from the Kerastase Resistance range and also the Aveda Botanical Repair range. I’m a hairdresser and I batter my hair with bleach as it’s mid-brown and I like it baby pink. These ranges have both worked miracles for me. Currently loving the Aveda Botanical Repair overnight serum. Turned my straw ends silky overnight.

I had better results with bleach London’s reincarnation mask than I did with olaplex no 3. So much cheaper too, I get it from Boots.

Part of my hair literally snapped off after I went to a new hairdresser and she over bleached it and I used Olaplex for about a year and found it helped a lot.

No 3 is great for when baby is here as you just need 5 minutes to slap it on then you can wash it off whenever, if that's the next morning or the whatever when you have a shower that's fine.

I second the Kerastase resistance range. I use the shampoo, conditioner and heat protector after the recommendation from a hairdresser. I think they have made a customer for life. Its made a huge difference to my weak, over dyed, over bleached hair.

Thanks so much. I’ll look into the kerastaste and Aveda lines. I’m trained as a hairdresser too but not a practicing one lol. Ooh I’d love to go baby pink one day. I’m thinking of having a couple more inches cut off my hair before baby arrives as my hair is so thick (and parts of it damaged lol) it takes ages to dry. If I got 2 inches cut off most of the fried ends would be gone but 3 inches the vast majority of the fried damaged ends would go. I’ll say to my hairdresser not to put the high lift colour through the ends again too x

Ooh I’ve heard of that bleach London mask. Never tried it though but will look into it if the Olaplex I’ve ordered doesn’t work (which it better work lol. Ordered it on Amazon last night) x

Oh flip sorry to hear your hair snapped off when you went to a new hairdressers. My hair is very frizzy and fried looking where the damage is really bad. I’m glad Olaplex worked for you. It’s great it worked when you had a new baby. I want to do twice weekly treatments with it for the first 3 to 4 weeks then weekly treatments. I plan to leave it on as long as I can. I just worry that I’ll not get the time and my hair (along with my mental health) will go downhill. I’ll work it round a day when my husband is home or baby is sleeping.

Thanks for letting me know about that line too. If Olaplex doesn’t work I’ll give it a go. I’m thinking of doing overnight coconut oil treatments alongside olaplex before baby arrives. Has that worked for you? X

It’s so expensive but L’anza healing oil is amazing. The serum is so so good. Salon sizes last a really long time so if you can afford it I highly recommend.

My hair has definitely been drier during pregnancy, maybe why the treatment has caused you issues. To be honest I have had mine chopped a couple of inches shorter than normal this month, so it lasts a bit longer once baby is here and cut out a lot of the damage. I know my hair won’t be looking it’s best postpartum so a shorter blunter cut is hopefully going to keep it looking in better condition. I also went darker but see that’s not an option for you.

DrunkenElephant · 12/02/2024 16:46

Definitely Aphogee, follow the instructions to the letter though or your hair will snap.

Minfilia · 12/02/2024 17:51

My hairdresser said that there is literally nothing in olaplex that can damage hair or worsen its condition so it’s worth a go.

I also had very bleach damaged hair after my hairdresser fucked up (it snapped off the entire top layer). I used 3, 4 and 5 and 18 months later my hair is in the best condition it’s been in years.
