Neighbours parcel

I’ve stupidly accepted a parcel for a neighbour who I have an ongoing feud with. I thought it was for me until I saw the name when the courier left and now I’m kicking myself. These people have made our lives hell which resulted in me needing anti depressants and anxiety meds. Even seeing them gives me panic attacks. I won’t go into background details but this is the last situation I wanted to be in as I’m not sure if they’ll knock for it or expect me to take it round and in all honesty I’m scared of being face to face with them. Plus they are the sort of people who would claim I stole it even if I handed it to them, just so they could claim a refund and report me for theft. They won’t be grateful, they’d actually step up the harassment. I’m now seriously considering what to do with it that means I can avoid handing it to them whilst also avoiding being accused of anything. Can I contact the company to collect it? Should I send it back as a return/unable to deliver? Can anyone help with alternatives please?

Is there anyone else in your home you could send to the door if / when they come knocking for it?

cbbo · 09/02/2024 15:54

Just drop it on the doorstep and walk away.

Myarmsarefull · 09/02/2024 16:01

Would I then be liable if it’s stolen?
what if they deny receiving it, would the courier try and claim against me?

No only young children here

I'd just leave it on the doorstep

Apollo365 · 09/02/2024 16:05

Ask a friend to drop it over? I’d do this for my friend

Poppasocks · 09/02/2024 16:06

Leave it on the doorstep and take a photo as proof you left it. Maybe a cheery wave to their ring doorbell as well?

AdoraBell · 09/02/2024 16:07

Put it on their doorstep and take a picture discreetly with your phone.

Let them do the running to come and get it. When they knock, put your phone on record and slip it into the cup of your bra with the microphone end at the top (before you answer the door). This should record the interaction and them asking for their parcel.

Parrotseatthemall · 09/02/2024 16:15

Leave it to them, only answer the door when convenient, or just put it on their doorstep when you know they're definitely in and ring the bell

Thanks, recording the interaction so I have proof is a good shout. I just don’t want to be accused of stealing and having police or couriers at my door, If I leave it on their step they can claim I didn’t give it back. Very bitter about doing it at all, no one likes to help out nasty people and these take top spot.

Can you give it to another neighbour to take over?
