36+2, to ask if this could be the start?

Been feeling very sick all day, bump feels tight and not pains as such but feels extremely uncomfortable and the sensation of my knickers feeling wet, seems a lot of discharge in particular today.

Could this be the start of something? I feel like shit, my stomach hurts and I feel exhausted and aching 😭

Don't want to ring triage if it's nothing. I'm truly fed up now can't deal with another few weeks of this. This is my second baby, with my first I was induced so a completely different experience, I don't know what it's like for labour to start spontaneously

Anyone? 😢

I mean, nobody can possibly say.

It could be. It could be a bug.

I know how frustrating it is towards the end but worrying whether 'this is it' or not does absolutely nothing for your body or sanity!

Have you got everything ready?

Take a bath, cuddle up in bed and see what happens. Either way try to get as much rest as possible.

If you’re only 36+2 you might need a steroid injection if you are in early labour so possibly phone your midwife.

I doubt it.

I had 4 home births. And as long as I was over 36 weeks I could stay at home so I doubt that would have been the case if I need steroid injections!

It could well be the start of something then.

Just try and get through the next few hours before DS goes to bed.

How old is he? What was his gestation?

lingo1234 · 08/02/2024 16:58

@Ahemhmm He's 4. He was born at 38+3, a failed induction which resulted in an EMCS

Ring triage.

Is the baby moving normally?

Gruffalotea · 08/02/2024 17:03

I hate to say it but I’ve been feeling like that since a similar gestation and I’m now 39+5. I’ve been going to bed almost every night feeling like I could wake up in labour, regular braxton hicks most evenings since 36/37 weeks.

As long as baby is moving well then it’s just a case of waiting to see. I also have a 2 yr old so I completely understand how exhausted and fed up you are feeling.

Yes, active as usual. I'm not sure what they'd do at triage to be honest. I'll give it a few hours and see how I feel later

I had steroid injections at 37 weeks. So it varies by trust. Which is why I said “might”. No need to be so dismissive.

Do call triage. I felt like this and it was due to high blood pressure leading to preeclampsia. It could be something or nothing but always good to check.
