What are some nice things I can do on my birthday?

Tomorrow is my first birthday spent on my own (through choice). I usually do something nice with my DC but tomorrow is a school day. I've been so busy with work I haven't actually planned anything. I'm a lone parent who gets zero time to herself, work full time, etc etc. Any ideas?

I would buy myself a yummy lunch and enjoy doing absolutely nothing!

Take yourself off for the morning. See something you'd like to see. Maybe a short train ride somewhere?
Have lunch, buy a cake (or bake one with the dcs later) then get home and watch some tv and have cake in the afternoon, order a take away.

I’d go to the gym then get dressed up and take myself out for lunch with a large glass of wine. Maybe a mooch round the shops then home for a nap.

happy birthday for tomorrow!

Go back to bed with breakfast.
Go out for a nice lunch or coffee and cake. Take a book.
Cinema.

What do you like doing? I’d probably just have a lazy, peaceful day with nice food and crap on tv!

Happy birthday for tomorrow. 🥳

I'd go for a walk, then buy a book and curl up to read it in a cafe with sofas. With a hot chocolate.

Thank you. I don't even know what I like doing anymore. 100% of my annual leave is used on my son. I drop him off at breakfast club at 7:45 on weekdays. Start work at 8, finish work at 3 and pick him up at 3:15. Clubs after school 3 days a week. Weekends spent at play dates, birthday parties, my friends will come over in the evening once he's in bed (or occasionally my close friends will do bedtime for me!). So as you can see, tomorrow is a rare day for me!

Life sounds busy for you. In that case, and because there’s nothing that you know you want to do, I would definitely take the opportunity to just chill and not have to rush around.

You could be back in bed straight after the school run with a nice breakfast, book, tv, have a snooze, a bath without rushing. Just set that alarm for the afternoon school run! 😂

TwigTheWonderKid · 08/02/2024 08:37

I'd probably get my hair done and then have a nice lunch out, visit a bookshop on my way back and then sit and read.

TheChosenTwo · 08/02/2024 08:40

I’d get him to school, go for a swim (I would say walk and a pub lunch for one but it’s pissing it down here!), come home and order something on deliveroo for lunch, watch some shit telly or read until school pick up time again. Unless you live anywhere that’s worth visiting for a few hours.
Will you see friends/family in the evening?

peppernuts · 08/02/2024 08:51

I would either get my hair done, get a pedicure or go for a massage. Or maybe a spa morning?
Maybe go out for lunch? Or order in your favourite treat while watching trashy tv?

Illpickthatup · 08/02/2024 08:54

Check Groupon, itison etc. And find a spa day with afternoon tea. They're usually available super cheap on weekdays because that's off-peak time.

AdaColeman · 08/02/2024 08:54

Do you have a gallery or museum nearby that you could have a wander around in the morning?
Definitely get yourself something nice for lunch, maybe a ready meal so you don't have to do any cooking! Maybe have tea & a cream scone before you go off on the school run?
Get some cake to share with your son, and some spring flowers for a splash of cheerful colour. Later, watch a favourite film.

Have a lovely day, whatever you do!

Lindy2 · 08/02/2024 08:58

I'd get a massage or some other pamper treatment and then go for a lovely lunch. I'd then sit and read while enjoying a glass of wine.

Whatever you choose, I hope you have a lovely day.
