Leaving 14 year old in the evening

I have twin 14 year olds, one has physical disabilities but is self sufficient at home.
Is it too early to leave them at home while dh and I go to the cinema or theatre? We don't have a babysitter and I've left them until about 9pm and all was OK.
We would be in the same town so no more than 20 mins away.
We have a good neighbour on one side that has a key.
I tend to be over protective so can't tell if it's time to let go a little.

I leave my 14yo at home and he has a physical disability but can move around independently. He's not allowed to have a shower or anything like that (in case of slipping/accidents) and I make sure he has his phone next to him. He's also not allowed to answer the door. He knows what to do if the fire alarm goes off and we have lots of friendly neighbours nearby.

To be honest, if I left him in front of a screen I could come back 5 hours later and he wouldn't have moved so I figure he's pretty safe 😆

He uses a wheelchair but is able to do anything he wants to at home and can get himself up if he falls. His brother would be home as well although they will probably be in their own rooms.

Leaving them until 9 was absolutely fine.
I haven't asked them yet, luckily it's in a couple of weeks and if push came to shove dh would stay at home and I would go with a friend.

I leave my 14 year old at home in the evening if we’re in the same town (ie can get home quickly). I don’t worry about it at all. He would be mortified if I got him a babysitter!

My DD isn't disabled but she is merrily left on her until about 11pm. She is 13 being doing it for over a year.

I'd say aged 14 they can easily cope with that. As long as they can both use a mobile phone, are not in the habit of lighting candles or cooking things in the microwave for 30 minutes instead of 3, they will be fine.

I did younger than this, you have to judge yourself
