I have and I'm wondering what they'll say to me in the meeting? Anyone got any thoughts on this or advice?

What industry are you in?

FenellaBestwick · 05/02/2024 21:01

I'd rather not say as it's outing.

I bet its not 🙄

I think the industry is relevant to the answer you are gonna get.

Redglitter · 05/02/2024 21:04

Yes I have and it was the best thing I could have done. They were great & sent a good report to management & outlined several reasonable adjustments.

Management have been great & a lot more sympathetic

Remember OH are there to support you

Thats a very good point. The reasonable adjustments I have wouldn't work or be a thing in other industries

Always seek advice from a union and ACAS - even if managment good it never hurts
Then be open and honest as they have a duty of care,
Good luck

I know you think it may be outing but sharing what industry you’re in will attract people who have been in your position to comment. I’ve been to occy health for your reason but as a band 5 nurse in the nhs. My experience will be useful to someone also working in healthcare but worthless to someone who works an office job for example.

I had it in teaching. It was most helpful when l got ill health retirement for anxiety.

It showed a procedure had been followed.

devildeepbluesea · 05/02/2024 22:36

I’m just about to have it. Civil service, head of HR (oh the irony)

Yes, going through the same at the moment. I've been off work with stress/anxiety since October and in November was classed as long term sick so had to have meeting with Occ Health. She was brilliant, made me feel at ease straight away. I basically told her about what was causing my stress and anxiety and she asked in what way my manager had supported me in this period. She then let me know I wasn't fit for work, and I've met with her twice since (over Teams). She basically doesn't want me to rush back to work but I now feel that I'm ready to go back and will be doing so in a fortnight.

I'm sure your Occ Health will probably discuss something similar. Just be honest about how you are feeling, nothing to be nervous about 😊
