Does anyone know much about these?

I'm very overweight so want to wear these to help prevent dvt but worried about getting the size wrong and being too tight (defeats the object) or not tight enough.

How do you know? And does it matter what brand?

Activa below knee class 1 stockings.
They are available online (anmazon, ebay, health care suppliers) and there is a size guide so you get the right fit for you. These are prescription compression stockings that you can also buy without a prescription so you know they are effective. Avoid the ones sold by, for example, Boots as they only go by shoe size so aren’t going to fit well if you are larger than their idea of average.

I’ll attach a size guide.

Yes I'd seen the shoe size one and thought my calf is too wide for average shoe size! Bur qasnt sure of reliability of buying from amazon as anyone can sell anything there...and I want it to be genuine so had though maybe boots!

I bought some from Amazon and wore them straight away for a flight. I was in excruciating pain and didn't wear them on the way back.

If you do buy them then make sure you wear them for a day at home in advance to test them out.

Yes that's my worry. I am wondering about asking in the pharmacist. If I end up in pain I'll be convinced I have a blood clot...

I remember getting them when pregnant and they were almost impossible to put on (poor midwives were bloody struggling as I couldn’t bend)

I couldn’t wear ones as tight again but something is better than nothing. I’m also looking into this shortly thanks OP. Following with interest.
