And if so, do you think it makes a difference? Would you recommend the brand you use?

IDK about bone broth but I put beef gelatin in my hair once.. bloody hell ill not do that again my head felt like lego hair

It’s often used to break a fast as it has the salt and minerals.

soupfiend · 03/02/2024 22:28

Id like to know because its full of protein isnt it?

Chipolata12 · 03/02/2024 22:29

Just make your own? It’s not hard and you’re likely to get a more nutrient dense result

How do you measure or know the macros in it though?

VenusClapTrap · 03/02/2024 22:31

Isn’t this just the new name for stock?

Runninghappy · 03/02/2024 22:31

I either buy it from Combe farm organic or make it. I drink it sometimes but mainly use it in soup, bolognaise, stew etc.

ScottBakula · 03/02/2024 22:44

@VenusClapTrap I agree with you , it's something people did years ago and still do now to get the most out of any meat left overs and veg scraps .
Isn't this partly where the famous MN chicken that feeds a family of 5 for 7 days 😃
@soupfiend Do you genuinely know what the macros are in all of your food ? Tbh I had to look up what macro meant !

No broth is not seasoned nor does it usually contain veg. So it's boiled bones and nothing else added.
Stock is the same plus veg, seasoning and herbs etc.

olderbutwiser · 04/02/2024 00:02

Gosh, I had no idea I was so fashionable when I chuck the chicken carcass in the instant pot with some water because I cba to do anything fancier.

Chipolata12 · 04/02/2024 01:18

You don’t? With respect if you’re avoiding healthy foods because you’re not able to calculate the macros you might want to consider if you’re being obsessive about tracking your intake.

Im probably using the wrong word

Im meant to have a certain amount of protein in my day so I measure that, thats what I meant

Edited

Is that to me? Im not avoiding anything but Im meant to have a certain amount of protein a day so I track everything but Im not keen to choose something over something else that I cant measure. So I have some bone broth protein that I add to things because I can count that, but its not a natural food, I would like to make my own ideally but I dont want to go to all that effort if its not going to deliver the protein I need.

YouBelongWithMe · 04/02/2024 16:45

I saw it as something different to stock, or at least in terms of how I'd use it.

When a recipe requires stock I just chuck in the required amount made with a stock pot.

But I want to drink bone broth in the morning for the collagen and health benefits. I don't think Aldi stock pots will give me what I'm looking for 🤣

I wouldn’t fancy it for breakfast!
Its just boiled up bones isn’t it, like our grandmothers used to make to get all the use out of a joint.
