Insomnia - help!!

Think it's perimenopause - almost 42, periods now horrifically heavy and only 22 days apart, sleep has been less reliable in the last year but the last week has been awful.
No particular new stress in my life. I just can't sleep. I'm wide awake again and the kids will be up at 6.30 and we have a busy weekend ahead.
Anyone got anything that helps a little?

I'm laying here worrying because I forgot to give the kids their flu spray and now it's too late. Also perimenopause. Wide awake. Sigh.

Unfortunately not. I've been awake for 2 hours now.
Hoping someone else comes along witha magic solution!

Oh hello wide awake club.

I tend to listen to boring YouTube videos with my Bluetooth headset on and eventually fall asleep 😴 .

I can recommend University lectures about subjects I know nothing about, Quantum Physics is a current favourite.

Melatonin helps me, I’m menopausal, ADHD and work nights. I order it from piping rock. I also listen to black noise which helps.

TerriPie · 03/02/2024 01:51

Is Melatonin an off the shelf thing or Pharmacy/Doctor medication?

Lying here listening to mindfulness meditation, load of bloody codswallop

Has anyone tried that exercise where you lay still and slowly work up the body, relaxing each body part.... start with feet. Then move up leg. Until you reach your head and relax jaw, and feel each bit melting into mattress. Sometimes works

thaegumathteth · 03/02/2024 01:53

Couple of things I do which sometimes do the trick

  1. Stare at one spot and try NOT ago close your eyes
  1. Download EarthCam and listen to street noise live

Melatonin isn’t sold over the counter in uk, it’s a hormone but classed as medication in UK in other countries you can buy from health food shops I buy mine online.

This comes to mind , on Classics , sometimes we all need a place to put our worries so we can sleep ...

It is one o clock in the morning, I need the night shift to mind my worries whilst I sleep.... www.mumsnet.com/Talk/mumsnet_classics/3770751-It-is-one-o-clock-in-the-morning-I-need-the-night-shift-to-mind-my-worries-whilst-I-sleep
