Any advice for really dry, tight lips - gross picture

Apologies for the gross picture. Have had a cold for two weeks which has now evolved into a sinus infection. Currently on doxycycline. Going through over a box of tissues a day due to all the mucus. My poor lips have bearing the brunt of it all and are so tight and dry. My go to is normally o' keefes overnight repair cream but it's not made a bit of difference. Any advice? Have tried exfoliating and lathering in cream but doesn't work. To add, I do get my lips going like this occasionally even without an illness, the philtrum doesn't be affected during these occasions, just my lips. I wonder if the dramatic presentation of the lips could be a sign of an underlying problem.

Mild steroid cream. Very sparingly and not for long but will work wonders.

Try a simple moisturiser or vaseline. Don't exfoliate.

This isn't a GP worthy visit. Just wait until you feel better. Your lips are just a reflection of your current illness. Once you feel better, they'll start healing themselves.

In the meantime, keep up with the cream/vasoline. Simple!

Don't use steroid cream on your face,it can lead to perioral dermatitis. It happened to me and it took months to get rid of.

I sailed for years and used Blisteze cream. I think it's been discontinued but Blistex is pretty good.

I have permanently sore lips- I suspect some sort of allergy along with a bad habit of biting them. I've tried everything and nothing works- a lot of balms that people swear by just irritate them more. I've just discovered the blistex relief and it's amazing, only thing that helps.

Balms just sit on the top and I'd end up biting them but the blistex soaks in.
The only other thing that helps if they're really sore is sudocreme but it's not pleasant when you can taste it!
