2 attacks by men on women this week

I am so sad about both of these stories

Attack today in London - the attack was a man 'known' to the family

and also this one

Crossbow attack

In both cases these attacks are by men known to the family and in the first case convicted of stalking. Its just so frustrating what can we do to protect women and children from men like this? There must be something

Police at scene

Crossbow man shot dead by police in Southwark was convicted stalker

Bryce Hodgson was handed a 16-week suspended jail term in July last year, court documents show.

There are far more than two a week these are just headline makers because of the severity and they both happened in London.

a start would be the police, courts and politicians taking VAWG seriously and to be frank, men taking responsibility for their own behaviour.

Well, a reasonable start would be being clear about the words men and women and continuing to push back against the trans nonsense. Then we could acknowledged that it's men who commit these crimes. Not people but men. Overwhelmingly men. Let's start by calling it what it is. Male violence against women. Seemingly, we can't even do that any more.

I agree - have you listened to Laura Richards Crime analyst podcasts Ep 170 is about adding Stalkers to a register so at least the 'authorities' can track them

However the training (or lack of) some of our police have on stalking and domestic violence is also appalling and she talks a lot about this

Using weapons like crossbows and acid feels like an escalation beyond the 'usual' domestic violence.

Couldn't agree more. Sadly it feels like we're light years away from that happening though

I think sadly these are just more reportable but actually women are attacked all of the time.

I know its not every man but there is something wrong when I read stats like this on the BBC website

"According to the latest figures from the Office for National Statistics (ONS), between April 2020 and March 2021, 177 women were murdered in England and Wales, compared to 416 men.
Of these women, 109 were killed by a man and 10 by a woman. In 58 cases there was no known suspect. This means that - where the suspect was known - 92% of women were killed by men in the year ending March 2021.

It’s utterly terrifying, I feel like every week you read about women and children being murdered and their ‘partners’ committing suicide afterwards.

IMO we as a society need to have zero tolerance and stop normalising misogyny and everyday sexism. Men need to take responsibility and stop condoning their other men’s poor behaviour.

I know of one currently serving policeman who goes home and showers violence and abuse on his wife. There will be many, many more up and down the country.
