The older I get, the more I understand Carmela Soprano

I may or may not be on the wine and watching my favourite comfort show for the 80th time.

I know Carmela is considered to be a nagging harridan type, but good lord I'm feeling her on this rewatch.

She really tried to do the right thing in many circumstances early on, before things started going to shit.

I see that now.

There was no one else Adriana could have been with. Any lower level/non mobsters would have been scared off by Christopher and any one above Christopher was her dad/grandad age!

Ooh a good idea. Might start watching it.

My favourite tv series. Nearly due a rewatch.
However I really dis liked Carmela.
Previous poster had it - she knew who Tony was, she turned a blind eye.
There's also the storyline where she gets the reference for Meadow where she knowingly plays on who she is to get it.
Having said that I did feel a bit sorry for her regarding Furio. I think she saw a tiny glimmer of what life with a man who truly loved her could look like.

One thing I enjoyed was that the viewer became lulled into Tony not being so bad, abusive mother etc and then he would do something dreadful and reveal again who he really was.

I NEVER tire of The Sopranos. In fact, I've named one of my new hens Silvio Bante (Silvio Dante) as she's a bantam breed.

I see Carmela as someone trapped in their social structure. She's right to worry about money after Tony is gone because he probably would otherwise (if not in Mafia) have provided more legitimately for her in the event of him dying before her.

She was certainly smart enough to work in real estate or investment, but life/Tony's attitude/etc got in the way (also sometimes because she found it easier to coast along).

My fave scene is after Vito is outed and KrisstoFAH is talking to Corky in the car:

"Could be a midlife thing?"
"Suckin' a CAHCK?"
