Cleaners - should these jobs be part of a standard or a deep clean?

I’m wondering whether my expectations aren’t set right. Please can you let me know if the following list would be part of a standard clean or part of a deep clean? Thank you.

1 - Wiping the living room mirror

2 - Dusting the tops of hallway skirting boards

3 - Cleaning the cooker hood
4 - Wiping fingerprints from the front of the fridge

5 - Dusting the bars of the bathroom radiator
6 - Wiping round the underside of the integrated bathroom sink plugs to remove any mould/grime
7 - Cleaning the plastic seal/strip at the bottom of the glass shower panel to remove any mould/muck

3 and 7 - deep clean
Others normal imo

Zampa · 31/01/2024 17:24

I would have said that 2, 5 and 7 were deep clean and the rest regular clean.

AnnaMagnani · 31/01/2024 17:32

From my experience of cleaners, if you want something done regularly you need to be explicit about it, and factor in any additional time needed to the payment.

I would say 2,3,5 and 7 are not routine.

3&5 I’d say deep clean. The rest id expect them to just do when they can see they need doing.

ManukaNourished · 31/01/2024 17:37

I would say 3, 6 and 7 are not routine.

The others are all simply removing obvious dust and grimy smears so should be part of a regular clean.

Tootsey11 · 31/01/2024 17:37

1, 4, 6 standard clean, all the rest deep clean.

If you are the client and you want all done every clean then make sure you factor in enough time.

ODFOx · 31/01/2024 17:38

I would do these weekly so if I had a weekly cleaner I'd expect them to be included, and would pay for any additional time required. The cooker hood one is subjective: ours is a steel hood so the top and chimney get obviously dusty/greasy but if it was one with a cupboard door on the front it'd be a monthly/deep clean task with sugar soap of the grille and filter change.

CleaningCuriosity · 31/01/2024 17:41

Thanks all. By cleaning the cooker hood I just meant wiping the glass panel, not actually changing the filter or anything like that.

I paid for a deep clean for the kitchen and a normal clean everywhere else, but none of these things were done. Like a PP it’s all stuff that I do weekly so I was a bit surprised they weren’t done. Especially as most of them take less than a minute to do!

I think it depends on how much time they have compared to how dirty the house is.
I clean a 4 bed, 3 bath house in 2.5-3 hrs, because it is not dirty. ( I have up to 3.5 hours to do it, but am done quicker) I clean a 1 bed, 1 shower room in 2 hours and it takes me the full time. This is because the kitchen counters are always smeared, crumbs, dried on food and they are coloured black so I have to keep bending down to see if smears have gone. The (small) shower room has a non slip floor so that means scrubbing every other week ( dirt gets in the little holes)
No 2 would be the only thing I wouldn't get done each week. All the others I would. Sink plugs and shower seal are important to me. They get very grimy v quickly.

Fynoderee · 31/01/2024 17:50

I’m a cleaner and I do all of these routinely. My clients do get a really good detailed clean but I am not cheap.

I always do a deep clean initially so everything is super clean before starting weekly/fortnightly cleans then these areas are maintainable. Without an initial clean tk get everything up to standard, the cleaner could just be chasing their tail.

dailyduel · 31/01/2024 17:52

1, 3, 4 and 5 I do every week.

The others once a month.

daffodilandtulip · 31/01/2024 17:55

I've given up on cleaners because I spent so long going around and finishing off, just might as well have done it in the first place.

Most no longer do skirtings, woodwork, radiators, high dusting, emptying bins. They all dust around ornaments rather than under and the actual ornament. I've even had one recently who didn't clean the toilet.

WhichIsItWendy · 31/01/2024 17:57

Side a kitchen deep clean should include wiping the outside of the fridge down?!

You’d think!

The rooms were all clutter free. Nothing on the surfaces and only furniture legs on the floors.

I clean my kitchen, and my cleaner does the floor, though I might hoover the dog hair and muddy bits at the weekend in between. But skirting boards, loos, mirrors, bathroom seals etc. over to her. I do windows (there are a lot of those) but by and large between us we pick up most things and the house is presentable. It takes six hours a week on average, split 60 to me and 40 the cleaner... who is exceptionally good, to keep it to my standard. I pay well above the local going rate: NMW and zero hours is her NT rate, and I pay her £18.00, so I am a priority. I don't take the mick, and the NT give her more hours work.

.

Alphabet1spaghetti2 · 31/01/2024 21:21

I would do them all as standard. Part of basic, routine cleaning wether that is a home, an office or anywhere else. Would get soundly bollocked by my area manager come the audit if they weren’t.

katepilar · 31/01/2024 21:21

I would say
1 , 4, 7 weekly and the rest perhaps monthly, if I was doing it myself. Might have higher expectation for a cleaner if I had one.

MCOut · 31/01/2024 22:55

My cleaners have always been happy to do anything reasonable as long as it can be achieved in the time booked. If you want these done give them a prioritised list even if you think it seems obvious.
