London activities and food ideas in April with DS age 13

Me, DH and DS 13 are going to London in April and staying in Marylebone. I'm looking for teenage-friendly ideas or recommendations. He's a fairly grown-up 13 year old and likes cars, shopping, eating out, cinema, theatre etc.
We had a great time in London last year and went to places like the Skybar, the zip line thing at the Emirates stadium, trainer shopping in Covent Garden (was hell!), 7 Dials Market, Borough Market, the Globe Theatre, saw the Lion King, went to Coal Drops Yard, got lots of Clipper boats and walked around Soho, Chinatown. We had great meals in Flat Iron and the Ivy.
I don't mind doing some of these things again as we had such a great time but would be great for other teenage-type recommendations for activities and food if possible. Thanks!

Camden Market definitely-great food and fun for a wander, be sure to include Cyberdog.

Churchill’s War Rooms is fascinating, especially if your DS has any interest in history, but even if not particularly so.

Mittal slide near the O2? Or climb the O2?

shows…Matilda is great - I think the Witches will be back by April. Hamilton is also great (and even better if you familiarise yourself with the story in advance).

Thanks so much @sleepwhenidie. I'll check these out.

My DS is about the same age as yours and we do a London trip at some point each year. Most recently we've enjoyed HMS Belfast, Borough Market (for food), and theatre-wise I'd recommend Witness for the Prosecution at County Hall (and Hamilton). Others ideas might be to go up the Sky Garden or Horizon 22. The Bank of England museum is also surprisingly interesting (and free).

Definitely Camden market. Look for a music venue that is all age (many are 14+) for a more grown up evening activity, there's hundreds of cheap, even free gigs, you might see the next big thing!

If you go to Camden then add on a walk
up Primrose Hill for the views, it is so close by (though feels like a different world!)

Fabulous. Thanks everyone!

The automaton museum in Holborn is great fun for something a bit different: https://www.novelty-automation.com/

Camden isn't as good as it used to be sadly

I'd go down to road to the royal academy of arts

The Wallace collection

Sherlock holmes museum

There's so much on your doorstep in walking distance

Loads to just explore by walking around the area

Eat in Sketch or Fortnums and Masons down the road and buy some tea in a nice tin and biscuits buy the Toffolofulus (sp) biscuits they are delicious

Covent Garden and all the little side streets

I love ST James park

Back to the future the musical
Thames rocket
Power up at the science museum
Hms Belfast
Car spotting near harrods (if into cars).
Also if into cars theres a car show at Wembley 13th & 14th April.
Grafitti tunnel

St Paul’s, go up to the Whispering Gallery then the first outdoor terrace and then right up inside the dome to the very top viewing platform.

Battersea Power Station, shops, food court, and take the lift up inside the chimney to the top

Tate modern (and then cross the Millenium Bridge to St Paul’s if doing St Paul’s)

Operation Mincemeat

Check what is on at BFI IMax

Forbidden Planet comic etc shop

Check Time Out the week before you arrive for any special events, festivals etc and special offers

Twist museum has good reviews - have yet to take my teen
Also Back to the Future show - another thing on the list

Camden market then walk along Canal to Kings Cross.

pharmachameleon · 31/01/2024 17:09

These are all great-thanks everyone. We've been recommended Operation Mincemeat and The Play That Goes Wrong. I think he might prefer Back to the Future but I'll check them all out.
