Bridge or implant?

Hi

Dentist is highly recommending I have an implant rather than a bridge given my age (44) but obviously she gets more money that way!

is it worth the money? How much did everyone pay for an implant?

thanks

Depends on the state of the teeth either side of the gap. Bridges are very destructive to the supportive teeth and there is a risk that those teeth will ‘die’

An implant is gold standard treatment. It requires no drilling down of other teeth or wearing a denture. It should always be offered unless medical history, smoking , etc contraindicates.

Bridges are either "stick on" which require no drilling , but have a relatively short lifespan and are not suitable for everyone's bite , or fixed where one or more teeth need drilling down so the bridge fits over the top. This obviously means destruction of tooth and also any tooth drilled in this way has a 25% chance of dying off and needing root canal treatment which also weakens the tooth making it more likely to break and then needing a bigger bridge.

In general you are looking at £2000 to £3500 depending on where in the country and complexity of implant.

Yes, implant definitely worth it. I paid £1700 I think + £120 for initial scan.
BUPA (my regular dentist) quoted £3k+ and £175 for scan I think - thankfully they kept cancelling initial appointment so I went elsewhere (still UK with implantologist with loads of experience) and it was great. Completely painless. Had it for two years now and it looks natural.

My implant, just that part, is going to be £2400.

I recently paid £4k for a double implant for 2 front teeth, absolutely worth every single penny!

Implant is the way to go. But obv the cost issue. i did mine on an interest free card which I cut up once I'd paid the dentist on it. Obv you then have the debt (assuming you dont have cash/savings). But happy to use interest free money for 24 or 30 months

Paid £2700 for my implant including extraction and temporary denture during treatment. Took about 10 months from tooth breaking to final fitting, extremely happy with it, any alternatives just wouldn't come near.

Just double checked current prices and it would cost £1800 (£995 for the implant and £805 for the crown) now at the place I had mine done, which is their 'prices from' price as mine was very straight forward/very good bone density etc.

Implant every time. It's the closest thing to a natural tooth
