I been with my last employer for about two years. I had two written warnings and been given my marching orders today. It was down to my performance. Now I am worried will I get another role?

OP posts:

What as wrong with your performance?

Denimdenimdenim · 30/01/2024 21:53

Are you part of a union?

Gettingbysomehow · 30/01/2024 21:54

What did you do? We can't say whether its fair or not unless we know. Was it lateness, sickness, couldn't do the job properly?
More details please.

WhatsYourDamageHeather · 30/01/2024 21:56

When you say 'about' two years was it over or under?

CopperLion · 30/01/2024 21:58

You can come back from this OP. Plenty of people are rehired after sackings. You should think about what happened and how you can address it going forward. Maybe sharing more here can help with practical advice.

Footprintsinthesand · 30/01/2024 21:58

The OP isn't asking whether it's fair. She's asking if she will get another role.

OP if it was down to performance rather than dishonesty etc then I'm sure you will get something new, even if it takes a little time. Are you wanting a role in the same sector or are you happy to move into something different? I know someone who was fired from a call centre and ended up as a postman. Sometimes a job just isn't a good fit

Pacifybull · 30/01/2024 21:58

Do you agree with them? Obviously, it’s unpleasant for you, but do you think your performance was lacking? As for getting another job, lots of people are sacked from jobs and can find another. Perhaps something different would suit you better?

DiveBombingSeagull · 30/01/2024 21:58

The above / below 2 years is really crucial here. Also what performance issues?

NotStayingIn · 30/01/2024 21:59

I’m so sorry that just be such a shock. As the previous poster said, ‘about two years’ in this scenario is a bit vague as there could be different rules that apply whether you were there for more or less than two years. Do clarify so you can get better advice.

Greensleevevssnotnose · 30/01/2024 22:00

I'm sure you will, depending on the reason, and how you spin it.

LIZS · 30/01/2024 22:03

Will they give you a reference? Learn from the feedback, even if too late to save this job. Dod the job suit or interest you? What were the performance issues?
