Would you put this t-shirt in the wash with whites or coloured items?

I normally keep my white wash as a pure-white wash.I would put something banded like this t-shirt in with pale things that I know are colour-fast like light-coloured towels. But if I don't have a suitable pale load, like today, I'm tempted to stick it in with the whites instead. Would you?

These bloody things are my nightmares! I wash them on their own. Inside out. And swear loudly at whoever bought it or curse whichever child asked for it for Christmas/birthday.

@NewYearSameShizzle I am feeling your pain as this happens to me when I buy the DS's T-shirts and hoodies.

With the mixed colours wash. And a colour catcher sheet.

This sounds a good compromise

DDPMDD · 30/01/2024 07:08

I'd put it in dark. Wouldn't trust that in a white wash.

DisforDarkChocolate · 30/01/2024 07:13

I use Colour Catchers for this sort of thing.

catelynjane · 30/01/2024 07:24

I don't separate whites and colours - everything just goes in together. Never has a problem.

Boriswentcamping · 30/01/2024 07:29

I have one these in the bottom of our washing basket - It's been there for months.... it irritates me every time I sort the washing. I just keep chucking it back in the basket, hopefully it will be outgrown soon and I won't have to deal with it. it was part of a set. Never again!

Dear sweet heaven no not with the whites!

StarlightLady · 30/01/2024 08:57

I’d put it in a colours wash. Better for the white bit to go slightly dark than all your whites to lose their whiteness.

It’s not about fear of it running, it’s most unlikely to, but over time it will stop your whites having that extra sparkle.

Thedance · 30/01/2024 09:01

I always use a colour catch sheet so usually out everything in together. Unless delicate/precious. . Life is too short.

I do whites, colours and darks.

that would go in colours.

I was about to say the same.
I do
Darks
Whites
Brights
Lights
I'd put it in the brights wash with a colour catcher.

WorriedGiraffe12 · 30/01/2024 10:56

I'd probably wash it with bath towels or something I wouldn't mind as much if it ran. And whack a colour catcher in for good measure

washing with towels Is my answer for everything.

WarmWinterSun · 30/01/2024 12:05

Don't do it!!!

ThreeTreeHill · 30/01/2024 12:12

I agree with leaving it in the wash for whoever owns it to deal with.

The most important thing is it doesn't go in with any of my whites

StarlightLady · 30/01/2024 16:22

Darker things that don’t visibly run can still turn whites into 50 shades of grey.

That book and film was about washing, wasn’t it? 😀
