Looking for home printer recommendations please, scan, print, copy, good on ink, good price.

Epson Eco-tank is the best I've used. We got ours 3 years ago and are still on the inks sent with the printer. Our previous one I had to replace the ink every couple of months. Most versions auto double-side as well, which is very helpful.

Thanks @GrouchyKiwi

Agree with @GrouchyKiwi the Eco-tank is good and the ink long lasting but the printing itself is quite slow so if that’s a concern for you then keep that in mind.

Ditto Epson ecotank. We are heavy printers, ours is 4yrs old, we refill the ink around every 18mths. We have had to use a Youtube hack to keep it going, and now I need to sort out the waste ink pads (I think it's printed about 18000 pages), but I can do that cheaply.
Any issues with ecotanks I can recommend Kevin at BCH on YouTube.

They are more expensive, but it has by far outweighed its purchase cost. Previous printer was getting through £60 cartridges every couple of months.

Thanks all. Does anyone have a model number please?

EPSON 0B9D15 is the one we have had for about 18 months. It's good.

Thanks @Papyrophile. I've read that I'd not used regularly the ink on eco tank printers can dry up. Have you experienced this?

@Properhoolietoday just had a look at Kevin at BCH - it's brilliant - he does Canon printers as well - thanks for this.

Ours tends to get used at least a few times a week, so I can't really comment @dafsinspring. It's not been a problem yet.

This is so odd! I came on here to say I can't recommend one but definitely don't buy the Epsom eco tank!

It's the worst printer I've ever owned. True, the ink lasts forever, but the quality is dreadful. Like, really really bad. And mine won't print double sided so wastes loads of paper. I'll be getting rid once the ink runs out.

Maybe I've got a bad one although online forums tend to agree with me regarding washed out print quality (and yes, I've done all the necessary steps that Epsom recommend).

Papyrophile · 29/01/2024 08:54

I don't use it for anything that requires very high quality printing or double sided, and if I did I'd alter the computer settings to best quality and use better paper. Cheap paper makes everything look worse. It's probably my favourite printer in 35 years of working from home as a writer, and it's so much cheaper to run than cartridges.

We’ve got an Epson ET-8500 Eco tank and it’s the best home printer we’ve ever had. Had it a couple of years now and not had to refill the tanks yet, sometimes go a couple of weeks without using it and it’s always fine, it never jams (unlike all the others we’ve had). Works seamlessly via wifi to all our devices. The only drawbacks were the high initial cost and the scanner is only flatbed not feeder, but I can use a feeder one at work if I need to, nowadays I tend to scan on my phone.
