I've just got up & made my first brew after a not brilliant night's sleep. I'd have turned over & gone back to sleep but I have a headache so want some paracetamol.

I'm sitting in my spot, in the kitchen, where I'll probably stay for an hour or so before I head up to get dressed & go with dd1 so I can pay for her birthday piercing.

After that, we're heading for a wander at The Range, via Home Bargains and maybe McDonald's 🤔 . I want a new bin and washing up bowl, dd1 wants a couple of under-bed storage boxes, and dd2 wants a bin for her bedroom, dead exciting! We'll wander the whole place though & dd1's already told me I'm not to spend as much as when I bought the Christmas tree 🤣.

When we get in, it'll be something easy for tea & then shower and an early night for me. Dd1 has homework she needs to get done so she'll probably do that, and dd2 will probably have an early ish night before getting up to watch someone's stream of Adele from Vegas.

What about all of you? 🙂

Morning @lucysmam and everyone.

A lazy morning here. Like most mornings to be honest!

Was up just after 7 and haven’t managed much except two rounds of tea and toast. I have put a wash on. I should go to the gym. But can’t get motivated.

DH is watching the cricket. I can hear DS in the shower.

I can’t read the papers or the news as I am trying to avoid spoilers of the Traitors. We are three episodes behind. DH unfortunately found out as he looked at Yahoo.

@ssd - my DS is 22 and I’m still doing his washing. He moved to Dublin last September and still brings his washing home to me in the UK! He goes back on Monday having been here for two months for Christmas break and I’m doing the last of his washing before he goes.

Lucysmam it's a bespoke class. The tutor is an artist as well as a former lecturer in art. In fact, she's just had a documentary made about her and her work. She's a friend of a friend and that's how I got to know her. We take along works in progress and she'll advise us. I started five years ago with acrylic, flirted with oils but have discovered a love of pastels. She advised that I stick with pastels and gave me details of the best kind.

I'm really very poorly today so I'm currently watching some YouTube in bed and relaxing (or trying to).

The toddler will be home about three from her grandma's about four so hopefully she will in true grandma style will have exhausted her ready for a nice early night.

Hoping to be able to stomach a bite to eat shortly.

Morning @lucysmam & everyone. I’m clock watching again as working at 12. Didn’t get up til 10 which is very unusual but unfortunately didn’t feel refreshed after the lie in. Struggling a bit with a cold & my back has been particularly bad. Realised that some wet laundry was taken upstairs to put away by mistake & am just re washing the sheet as it smells! Not much more washing to do as I did several loads during the week to catch up. I have partly unloaded the dishwasher. DH will no doubt finish it when he comes home if I haven’t. DIY tea tonight as DH will be back late after collecting DD15 from her girlfriend’s. I might buy some bacon & have hash browns with it. Definitely watching Gladiators & may catch up with All Creatures Great & Small which I have been meaning to do since before Christmas. I love it! Wine will feature in the evening. I’ve found a lovely Chilean Chardonnay at Aldi for under £7.

Just getting ready to catch the train into Newcastle for a post Christmas meal with my best mate and her husband , we are really looking forward to a catch up and a couple of almost festive drinks

Good morning @lucysmam , I hope your headache clears quickly.
The dog and I are back from a long, rather muddy walk, it was lovely to be out early and the dog enjoyed meeting various other pooches. I enjoy getting out early with her, I really should do it more regularly.
Having a cup of coffee then I will think about getting something for lunch, DH is being an utter ass about what foods he’ll eat or not so getting close to telling him to cook for himself 🙄, I swear he’s got some cognitive issues but won’t see the doctor 🤷🏼‍♀️
I fancy a nice salad with prawns I think 😋
Nothing else planned for the weekend, but tomorrow the dog and I will go out early again.
Have a lovely weekend everyone.

Oldraver · 27/01/2024 11:38

Prawn salad sounds good. I haven't had prawns for ages as had some bad ones a while ago

Good morning all, well its afternoon here.

I’ve been swimming with our little girl this morning, well, when I say swimming, what I really mean is I spent half an hour stopping her from trying to drown herself and drinking the pool, as she is two this is completely unreasonable behaviour on my part.

My husband and our son are out, no idea what they’re upto as they were out when I got home. Last this afternoon we’re going car shopping, we have a little campervan, but we’re thinking of getting a small car as well, rather than having to go everywhere in the van. Second cars are more expensive here, so I don’t think we’ll be able to be too choosy.

Have a nice saturday all, have the winds calmed down in the UK?

dontforgetme · 27/01/2024 12:17

Good morning (afternoon!) all.

I went back to bed when oh got up as I have been sleeping so crappy all week. Not long got up and had tea and pancakes. Will put a wash on and run the vacuum round shortly.

We are going into town this evening for an Italian. Looking forward to it, both my children are fussy eaters but they both absolutely love Italian.

Will walk the dog for a couple of hours before we get ready.

Have a lovely Saturday all!

Good Afternoon. Was at work at 6am. Bakery, till and delivery. Finished at 11. Came home and have put half a gammon joint in the slow cooker on a bed of leeks, carrots, baby potatoes and parsnips. Have covered it all in a bottle of Crabbies ginger beer. That will be for lunch tomorrow followed by Pineapple Upside Down Cake. Mum's gone out for lunch so im having a pizza.

Mirrormeback · 27/01/2024 12:23

I've got a banana cake in the oven but after 30 mins it's completely wet in the middle still

Alarm just a gone often an extra 15 mins and it's perfect

Hopefully now not too flipping dry

I made a lemon drizzle cake yesterday which the DC devoured

I had 2 very soft bananas that needed using up hence banana cake

Waiting for weekly shop to arrive

Will pop pot later for a while

Thedogsdindins · 27/01/2024 14:00

Got up at 7amish with a slight headache due to a slightly drunken kitchen disco last night. Had some porridge and fruit for breakfast then went for a long walk along the seafront with DH and the dog.
Eggs and toast for lunch then planning on going out to get some logs for the fire.
DH is cooking us a chilli later so I plan to have some me time to perhaps meditate and read a book whilst he destroys the kitchen!
I thought about doing some housework but it was only a thought!

Eggsley · 27/01/2024 14:02

Afternoon all, DS2 had football at 10 so he and I were up and out by 09.30. DH also had football at 10, but he was out just before 9 as his match was an hour or so away. Made DC's lunch, then when DH got home I made our lunch.

We've got to go out in a minute to get DS1 some new boots and thermals. Then an afternoon of pottering. I've got some plants I want to re-pot, the bathrooms need a wipe round and I need to make a start on sorting out my wardrobe.

Chilli for tea and we want to watch gladiators later. An early ish night I think, as we need to be up and out for football by 08.30 tomorrow.

Hope everyone is having a great day!

Soccermumamir · 27/01/2024 14:04

Afternoon,
Had a lovely lie in till 8:30am. We've just send ds1's UCAS off for Uni 😬 Got all my house work done, now having a coffee and catching up on Live it or List it lol

Got some studying to do later and then home made burgers for tea and a movie night. Hope everyone is having a lovely Saturday 🙂

43ontherocksporfavor · 27/01/2024 14:07

Woke up at 8, DH brought me tea then he went to Park Run while I watched TV in bed.Got up and made us breakfast then he did the hoovering while I changed the beds. We’ve just been to Aldi and just having a bit of lunch before big dog walk punctuated by a pint and peanuts at the pub which is becoming a Saturday tradition. Staying in tonight and cooking chicken pad Thai.

ConcertaFirstTimer · 27/01/2024 14:08

Morning @lucysmam,

I went to weight training this morning, then for a walk with DH. Tried to do the RSPB birdwatch but foxes kept coming into the garden scaring them off and a red kite was circling above.

Had a bath

This afternoon I'm doing laundry, cleaning the bathroom and having an early night as we are off early tomorrow to visit adult DS.

spamm · 27/01/2024 14:18

Still morning here - 5 hours behind in Virginia. Got up at 7.30 am and went for a long dog walk with DH. Now having breakfast then heading out to do some errands - take recycling glass to bottle bank and soft plastics to supermarket, etc.

Then yoga (first time back in ages, so will likely be sore), watching rugby on tv and maybe buy a new smart TV for the living room cause the current one is driving us crazy.

Maybe dinner out with neighbors before bed.

Chelsea26 · 27/01/2024 15:58

Afternoon @lucysmam and all!

I’ve done my usual of opening this thread in the morning when I’m getting up and then getting busy and not reading it till now.

I’ve taken DS1 to football and had a wander round Morrisons before picking him up again. Back to rounds of bacon and egg bagels for DS1&2 and DSS, Halloumi wraps with hummus for DP, DSD and MIL (made by DSD) and slow cooker split pea and ham soup for me (sad diet face!) although the soup is lush actually.

DS1 has now gone up to Liverpool for the football tomorrow with his dad. The rest of us have been chilling but I think DS2 and DSD are about to head down to the shops.

DP is doing more work on the garden room but it’s finally getting there.

Tonight we’ve got Gammon, eggs, chips and beans (peas for the weirdos!) and also watching Gladiators - it’s so easy to watch isn’t it?
