Vinted Sale - something feels off

JamesGetIn · 26/01/2024 22:00

I listed an item for £95 tonight, retailing currently at £145. A buyer with one review from 2 months ago (can't tell if it was from buying or selling), no profile info., and a single item in their wardrobe which was posted 2 years ago has bought it.

No further message/communication since buying.

The carrier is Evri which I've never had an issue with and tracking works well so I've always been confident in using them.

Something just feels off with it being an expensive item and with a buyer with such a low Vinted profile.

Has anyone else been in this situation? I really cannot afford to lose money on the sale if the buyer ended up being scammy, but I also don't want a poor review for cancelling the sale. Thanks.

I think you're being paranoid. Can't say I've ever checked out a buyers reviews nor expected messages after they've bought something- I'd imagine it'll all be fine!

NigelHarmansNewWife · 26/01/2024 22:05

Video wrapping and sending the item. If you have only a QR code for Evri then take a photo once you have the label.when you drop off at the store.

AtLeastHalfRelieved · 26/01/2024 22:06

What communication would you expect from a buyer?

I've bought loads on vinted and never once has it occured to me to contact the seller as soon as I've bought something. I only contact the seller if there's a problem, and I'm fairly sure that's standard!

Mummypete · 26/01/2024 22:07

I wouldn’t worry about it too much. If it’s an expensive item it might be something they’ve been on the look out for. I have loads of saved searches on Vinted for more expensive things and just check every so often.

mrmagpie · 26/01/2024 22:08

People with a lot of reviews on vinted tend to be the ones that buy and sell a shit load of stuff for like £1 a time. That's me, by the way so no shade to anyone.

Not in a billion years would I be buying anything for £95.

I think it's just a different kind of buyer. It's quite a high value item for vinted, so people buying that kind of thing probably aren't mega frequent users. I wouldn't worry too much. Evri tend to be really reliable in terms of tracking (I've had loads of problems with in post so avoid that) so I think you're probably ok.

mrmagpie · 26/01/2024 22:09

Oh and I only contact sellers to say thank you if I've made an offer that's been accepted. I don't for things I buy at 'full price', so I wouldn't worry about that.

ooooohnoooooo · 26/01/2024 22:11

Make sure you take lots of pics/videos of the item before you pack it and during packing in case of a dispute.

I was selling air pod Max’s and cancelled a sale from a brand new person with no reviews that bought them. I said sorry it’s too risky to send to someone with no reviews and cancelled the sale. They didn’t reply. I decided I couldn’t risk such a high value loss.

Precipice · 26/01/2024 22:21

Why on earth would they message you? To say what?

You realise that someone had to trust you, as a buyer or a seller with 0 feedback to get you started on the platform?

Elpheba · 27/01/2024 07:59

Yes but my first purchase wasn’t for £400. The op has the right to cancel the sale if they feel uncomfortable just as I did. Most people can’t afford to lose £100+

NewYearNameChanger · 27/01/2024 08:29

I sold a bag for £150 to a buyer with no feedback - I had a weird feeling about it too but went ahead with the sale anyway, and lo and behold they claimed the bag had arrived damaged. Luckily as I felt something was off I videoed packing it up and vinted sided with me once I sent them the video and I had the money released to me - but it did take about 10 days to resolve though.

JamesGetIn · 27/01/2024 10:01

Hi thanks for the replies. I will definitely video it being packaged up before I send.

I've only recently joined vinted and my first purchase was about £90! I didn't think about not having any reviews, glad the seller still sold to me as I love the item. Have bought more now but yes every profile has to start somewhere. Although always trust your gut anyhow!

Also maybe mention to them when you send it that you’ve videoed it being packaged up in case it gets ‘damaged in transit’ just so they know not to even both trying any nonsense..

I know! I never message anyone. Why would I? I buy all the time but have no reason to message

Moglet4 · 01/05/2024 21:28

I really can’t stand it when you favourite something and the seller immediately contacts you with when they can post it - BACK OFF!!!
