Do you have a comfy cozy place in your house that's just really for you?

I love relaxing with a book or some crafts in the evening, and I'm struggling with where to do it. It sounds silly really.

Our household is a gaming house (excluding me) so the family room is basically kids and dad gaming together for an hour or two right at the time I would usually want to relax.

I typically lay on my bed with a brew which is nice enough, but doesn't feel particularly healthy in terms of bed then being the sleeping place.

Ideally, I'd like a lamp and a cozy armchair somewhere in the house that's not in the main living room (gamers) and I'm going to work on sorting this over the next few weeks.

But I wondered if anyone else has themselves a designated corner or room for just relaxing away from tv etc?

My kids (and dh!) get plenty of proper "family time" like walks and board games and chatting about our days etc, but just that hour or two downtime during the evening - I need a space Grin

Oh, and I'm not putting the devices into the kids bedrooms as their rooms are screen free and I'd like to keep it that way as long as possible, so gaming in the living room is the least bad set up imo.

Yes, I have my own room. It's got a sofa, heater, soft lighting etc.😊 My cat has currently invaded it but usually it's just for me.

Sometimes I invite my hubby in to watch a movie - we'll put the flat screen up on the table, but usually it's 'my little space' - also no screen usually.

I absolutely love it. It's warm and cozy with cushions and a blanket in winter too!

I have my own small sitting room/snug. It has a very comfortable sofa, nice soft lighting and lots of books. Also space to keep my crotchet or other craft project of the moment.

If you do not have a spare room could you rearrange your bedroom to fit in an armchair?

I use me bed.
It's the most comfortable and cosiest place in the house. I'm also very tired a lot of the time so it's handy for a nap when necessary.

I used to make a little space for myself with a comfy chair and a book case, little radio and lamp etc. but I used to fall asleep and wak up with a pain in my neck, so moved my spot to my bed.

I have such an armchair in my (our)bedroom, and I go there to escape from DH & dogs. DH can watch all the sport he wants and I can curl up with a book.

I have a little room. It's a very tiny box room. I have my wingback chair in it, with a squashy cushion and a nice blanket, a foot stool and a side table. It's an old house, so the window is deep, and the dog has a fluffy bed there. We tend to go up in the afternoon as the sun hits the window just right, so she snoozes in the sun, in her bed, while I read or just stare out the window. Can watch my horses from there, or just look out over the fields.

We do technically have a small spare room but I work ft from home so it has my desk in - not sure whether it's healthy to then spend all evening in it too?

I could probably jiggle it around so the desk is less prominent and the rest of the room is turned more cosy.

No and I'd love one. Somewhere big enough that I could do yoga in peace as well as reading, crafts. In summer I sit in my potting shed or the garden but nowhere to go in winter. No spare room and no space for an armchair in our bedroom. I spend a lot of time sitting in the kitchen or dining room but the latter is a thoroughfare to the kitchen and often has someone else in there too.

My bedroom (we're both snorers)

Healthwise, I think lying may be better than sitting so I don't see a problem with using the bed.

My bed? Must go there now!!!

I’ve always wanted a American den style room, just for me with a lazy boy type armchair and a table stacked with books and a great sound system.
We have a spare room but it’s cold and north facing and I just can not make it cozy no matter how we decorate it.
If and when my dd ever leaves home I’ll turn her room into my special place. It’s my favourite room of the house - small, cosy and south facing.

Can you put your desk/office into a cupboard - that closes up at the end of the day, so that work is packed away and out of sight? And could you then fit a cosy armchair or sofa in to make it your space?

From around 9 I go up to bed, put my lamp on and snuggle with a hot water bottle and a book. Sometimes cat comes to visit too. I often take a snack and a brew and just chill on my own. Dh knows it's my time alone and he doesn't generally disturb me although I don't mind him coming to read with me.

This is my habit too, and I love it, but there's a bit of a lull in our evening 6pm-8pm (dinner at 8) and I want somewhere not a bed Grin

I think when I'm in my office room on Monday I'll have a little think about how better to switch it up to fit a cozy corner in.

We have a second low long bookcase in the living room that feels out of place so I could drag that in, then just need to source a comfy chair.
