Also, what the heck is going on with the gaming chair?

Bargain, though.

(Yes, I know it's probably a typo on the price)

It's sobering to think that, within some of our parents' and grandparents' lifetimes (or indeed, maybe some of us MNers ourselves), that would have been the actual realistic price and not an obviously ridiculous typo at all.

That toilet is a game. You flush it and randomly is spurts water out at your face. We had it for a while 😀

I've got this game, don't know where it is. I must flush it out

I think it might mean £425 per week rental!

twobluechickens · 25/01/2024 22:28

There's no way that would be £425 a month. A week, perhaps. Truro is pricey.

YesIReallyDoLikeRootBeer · 25/01/2024 22:30

I had to relook at the pics to see how to get into the lounge because the floor plan made it seem like there was no entrance to it.

FatherJackHackettsUnderpantsHamper · 25/01/2024 22:54

Isn't it the law that all rents have to be stated as 'per calendar month' (or I assume 'per calendar week')?!

That's the clear impression that I've got from many episodes of Homes Under The Hammer, where I don't think I've ever yet seen an estate agent value the rental potential as '£X per month'. There's always the need to include the word 'calendar' - presumably just in case anybody takes them to court, having assumed that the given price was actually per lunar or Venusian month or whatever!

There's a secret passageway that you access down the tiny toilet.

PelvicFloorClenchReminder · 26/01/2024 08:03

OK, now I'm starting to think that the Reeves and Mortimer reference might have been a bit obscure.

It's TOO WEE!

Hang on.

I'll find a video.

I can't get over how dreary it looks!

Ducksinthebath · 26/01/2024 08:17

That agent needs sacking. Terrible photos, bad floor plan, typo in the price.

TheYearOfSmallThings · 26/01/2024 08:20

Aw, I was expecting purple paint on the walls, uh huh.

Also I think that's a nice house and reasonably well presented.

FatherJackHackettsUnderpantsHamper · 26/01/2024 09:47

So tempting to put in a cheeky offer with the estate agents for £19.99, whilst tapping the side of your nose as a secret sign to see if the EA is a fellow MNer Grin

PeppermintParty · 26/01/2024 10:36

The price I se is £425,000. Have they updated an earlier typo?

ifonly4 · 26/01/2024 10:43

Just looks like a family home to me. The gaming chair looks like it's in a boys room and maybe his parents just want him to enjoy his room no matter what. The toilet looks like the one upstairs in our house, been here ten years and it totally serves it's purpose.

whoscoatsthatjacket2012 · 26/01/2024 10:57

Now that I get the toilet reference.
Why is everyone saying it's cheap. £425k doesn't sound cheap to me.
Is Truro that expensive that £425j is laughable

Marylou62 · 26/01/2024 11:13

This is Truro in Cornwall..That has been named as one of the poorest counties..My 3 DCs, all of whom have partners who all work full-time couldn't afford this house. Lowest average wages and highest average house prices (outside London)

Marylou62 · 26/01/2024 11:14

Oh..and the job market is one of the worst in the country too..

Because earlier on today is was listed for £425.

Not £425k. £425.

PelvicFloorClenchReminder · 26/01/2024 16:38

Aww no, the price has been updated while I've been at work.

I've never longed for a 'Buy It Now' button on rightmove more.

It doesn't sound cheap for that house to me either but I'm in the North. You could get a much nicer house than that where I live for far less.

whoscoatsthatjacket2012 · 26/01/2024 17:57

Ah I see. You'd get a really lush house for £425k around here too
You'd 2 decent ones actually

But it's what was sitting/located in the gaming chair that was what we were all wondering - something with a face!

Also, it's not the standard, very ordinary-looking toilet - which I'm sure is perfectly functional - that caught OP's eye, but the additional tiny little toilet under the sink, to the left - that PPs have now confirmed is a novelty toy/game!

So you'd have been able to buy 1,000 of the Truro houses for that amount - probably most of Truro, in fact - for the same price!

It was originally advertised at just £425 - i.e. getting into potentially risky, unknown territory for a 4th-hand car - before the EA spotted the typo (they might have seen this thread!) and corrected it to the much more realistic £425,000.
