If you have had a new driveway recently how much did it cost?

Particularly if its tarmac?

I've had a quote which sounds a lot but I think its probably more or less what it should be due to the high cost of materials.

If you've done a driveway recently how much was it and how large an area?

Thanks so much.

Not a new driveway but a new patio. It cost a lot more than we thought. Patio slabs were about £5 each for rubbish ones. All building supplies have gone up loads recently.

Ours is a it twice the size of the one above, with a curve, and was £9.5k in November. I got 4 quotes before I believed the price...

Our quote is for a lot of money but its a very large area (200 square metres). The contractor is being a bit vague which I think is probably what is making me so nervous.

In fact DH tells me its 300 square metres.

Its £18k.

Get more quotes - you'll soon work out what is reasonable.

This is proving easier said than done

Not tarmac but I nearly fell over when we were quoted £16k 2 years ago. I think we had 4 quotes in total.

Saying that, they had to remove not only the old stones but also several scrubs, lawn, a small wall but had to dig out for a new concrete base and level all up.

I love it though.

£12k but also involved digging out part of the garden and building a retaining wall and steps. Block paving not tarmac though.
