Can someone give me a guide to selling/buying with CEX?

I'm clueless but my son wants to trade some games in and buy a 'new' console

Do you have to wait for games/items to be tested before you get paid? If so how long does this take?

If you're paid in vouchers can you use these to buy products online?

Online - when I click to see stock at the local shop, it shows all the same stock as the online shop. So I assume if it's not literally in store they order it across and you have to wait? How long does that take?

Anything else I need to know?

Thanks in advance from a CEX newbie Blush

Games and things with discs they give them the once over to check for scratches and then accept them. Items have to be tested, sometimes an hour or so depending on how busy they are.

You can sell for cash, or for voucher giving you more. vouchers can be used online. They do not order across, you would order it to home like buying anything else online, they dont click and collect from other branches, only from the branch that holds the item.

Alternatively you can box items up and send via free post to them, they then transfer the money in a few days, but quicker to go to the store.

What wittyusername says is correct.

My DS has traded in DVDs/games etc that he has outgrown and it has always been quick and easy and the staff on our local shop are really helpful. There were a few items of ours that they have rejected (my fault for not checking the DVDs for scratches) but they were very pleasant about it.

They don't pay a lot for each item so if you want to get the best price you're probably better selling on facebook/e-bay. But I knew I'd not get round to that and trading in to CEX was a good way to encourage DS to get rid of some things he didn't play with any more. The value they give you in vouchers is a lot more than they offer in cash so if you plan to spend money with them anyway that's a far better option. When they did it they just gave us a paper credit receipt and we had quite a long time to spend it (and didn't need to spend it all at once).

The expiry date on those is 1000 years! Dont do what most people do and just read the day/month and think that they dont have long to spend it!

You can also price up all of the items on their website to see how much you would get for it all

Thank you! He's set up an account and booked it so we drop them off tomorrow. He's selling switch games so will we get the vouchers there and then with those? And then he can come home and order the ps4 online?

He can trade in, potentially wait for his trades to be checked / come back in an hour etc (depending on how many and how busy the shop is), and then buy the PS4 at the same time (assuming they have one in stock)

If they don’t have the item in stock it can be ordered from another store - the shop can order it or you/he can order it for delivery

If there turns out to be an issue you can go to your local shop and resolve most issues.
eg I’ve bought a few lenses from CEX and ordered a particular lens from a different shop, it had been mis cataloged as to the fitting type and I was able to return it in person to my local

Chances are they will have a ps4 in stock so you can get it there and then. You can also look on their site and search ps4, and it will tell you what stores have it in stock in case there is more than one store close to you
