Need hallway storage inspiration! Family of 5 here with a narrow hallway and awkward sloped area under stairs that is always full of shoes bags coats etc. how do you deal with it all?!

I also have the built in drawers. Life changing 😂 we use the big one for school bags but it can be converted for wine!

Oooh, I am very jealous. We have a normal cupboard under the stairs, but the thin end is very much wasted space, and it's one of my dreams to get one of those magic cupboards!

I have created a designated place for each person's shoes. So mine go in a basket underneath a bench in the hallway. DP's go on a shelf in a unit and my DD has a cupboard just inside the living room, off the hallway, where all her shoes go. I feel its making things run more smoothly than all our shoes being in the same storage area.

Also pegs at child's height so she can hang her own coat up as that had become a point of contention.

Also have a tall thin chest of drawers in a corner that has hats / gloves / suncream / waterproofs / cycling gear and that kind of thing in.

Mine was totally wasted space. It cost €700 a few years back. And it really has been worth every penny 😊

Each person only gets 1 pair of shoes, 1 bag and 1 coat in the bit by the door. Everyone’s wellies, sports gear, other coats etc are stored somewhere else and are only allowed by the door if they are being used that day. I am ruthless about sending stuff back to bedrooms (coats) or the back of the downstairs loo door (sports bags) or the understairs cupboard (wellies and other shoes) when they arent in use.
All shoes go into a basket, each person has their own hook for their coat and bag

My hallway is pretty small. Probably 1.5m sq. There are hooks for coats but that is it. Nothing is left in the hallway. I'm utterly zero tolerance as it's the entrance to our home and I expect it to be clear. I couldn't bear walking in and standing on people's shoes or bags. Everybody keeps their own stuff in their own rooms or they walk through the dining room to the back hall and the cupboard under the stairs and use the storage in there.

The children soon learned and stopped dropping things as they entered the house.

Small flat with a little hallway, everyone has one coat/jacket on the rack and one pair of shoes in the shoe shelf by the front door. Then all other shoes, jackets and bags live in cupboards by the doors in the bedrooms.
It keeps things clear and out of the way and leaves a pair of hooks free by the door for guests.
We have no surfaces in the hall and it stops things getting dumped in there

Men was a riot of sports equipment and musical instruments until they left home. And both equipment and instruments got bigger as they did!

Double cupboard just shelves for shoes and another with hanging space for coats and shelves for bags. A DH who likes to build things.
