PIP assessment

I had a PIP assessment two weeks ago..I felt it went okay and the nurse said I would hear in 4-8 weeks, he was happy he had all the information needed. So I've just been waiting patiently. I've just had a call from the PIP centre saying that th nurse wants to speak to me for some more information. What could this mean? I'm worrying and anxious about it now, I feel suspicious. Are they trying to catch me out or something?

I don't think they're trying to catch you out. Probably just forgot to ask you something.

Do not trust them at all! I just had a telephone assessment today & the assessor tried to catch me out every which way.

Probably just following up, you can ask for a copy of the assessors report to be sent to you, that way you can see what points they are recommending be awarded.

I'm claiming for a diagnosed anxiety and OCD disorder plus chronic pain. What I don't get is they said two weeks ago that the report will be sent to DWP that same.day, we are now two weeks later and they need more information. So has it gone to DWP and I h yve requested more information? I'm just a bit confused and now very anxious and edgy!

I claimed pip last November for mental health such as depression, anxiety, ocd…similar to you. I read loads of bad reviews online saying how everyone thought the assessment phone call went well but then they never qualified for pip. I had my phone call last week and was just informed today that I qualified for pip and will recieve a letter explaining how much I’ll get etc. Don’t be anxious I’m sure you’ll get it, they probably just want to go over some things with you.

Thank you I had my second call today and it was just some questions to elaborate on a couple of things. The nurse said it was because sometimes their assessments get audited by their bosses and it was to make sure th assessment was as through as possible. @MeganBoo you had your phone call last week and already have a decision? That was quick. Can I ask what mental health you claimed for?

@AlwaysAnxiousAnnie

At least the second phone call was nothing to worry about, try not to be anxious about it although I was anxious too waiting for the results. I had a decision made very quick, after the phone call I was told the results could take 4-8weeks so was surprised to find out I qualified the week after. I have depression, anxiety, ocd and bpd (can’t get a written diagnosis for bpd until I’m 25 but my gp thinks I have it). I only claimed pip for my depression and anxiety as it stops me doing day to day tasks. Wishing you luck with your claim!

Hi.
I’m not sure you are aware but once the DWP text you to say they have received the assessors report, you can telephone them and ask for a copy of it.
For one, this will enable you to see if the assessor has said they think you should be entitled to pip
and secondly, if the assessor has said they don’t think you should receive it, you can go through every point they have written about you to find any discrepancies in what has been said and this will allow you to prepare for a mandatory reconsideration (MR).
if needing an MR, go through every bit of each section and argue every point the assessor has made which you feel is incorrect and ask a friend/ family member or support worker etc to write a letter In support of you to argue each incorrect point and why. A family member or close friend is still enough as they know most about you.
Also, send any additional evidence you might have or can think of to back yourself up.

i would always recommend anyone who claims pip to ring for the assessors report and put in a MR. There is always an error or quite a few errors in them.

Keep us updated and good luck.
