How to make new friends as we get older and not lost yourself once you get married/children

School friend passed away as have 2 other close friends. Have only 1 close friend, 1 cousin I'm close to and some ex work colleagues that I'm still in touch with and we go for lunch etc 5 ish times per year.

A few mum friends from when the children were smaller
A couple from 10 years ago at work

I have acquaintances people who know me but haven't bonded closely enough to call a real friendships. 0 friends

None I have autism which makes if difficult but saying that perfectly happy as I am

I have 2 best friends who I see on a one to one basis every other week. I’ve been friends with them since meeting at toddler groups over 20 years ago.

I see a school friend once a year and we message and phone each other regularly. She was my best friend at secondary school and we met about 34 years ago.

I have a local friend who I’ve been friendly with for 18 years and we get together twice a year.

I also made a friend on a holiday and visited her in America a few months ago.

I have a gym friend who I only see at the gym but we do WhatsApp each other.

Two of my SIL’s are almost friends, we text etc.

I would say I am friends with two of my cousins and we meet up twice a year and text regularly.

This is the perfect amount of friends of me as I really do enjoy doing things on my own.

Close to two from uni (married my husband from my post grad).

Then I’d say about 10-12 mum acquaintes across different times (eg primary to secondary) we do dinners/thestre etc

i do get asked for coffee a lot by other mum’s and I would also feel comfortable trying to organise something and know I’d get a good turnout.

I'm still friends with a handful of women from school. Up until 2 years ago it was 1 more but I cut her off for the sake of my health and don't regret it. She's still close friends with 1 and fairly friendly with another. I've not clapped eyes on her in years but I know I'll have to at some point due to the mutual friend and I dread it . Unfortunately I'm happily anti social so don't go out of my way to make friends I have plenty though!
