Books or recommendations to help get me through the newborn phase

Posting on here for traffic.

Hi,

Has anyone got any recommendations of books that helped them get through the newborn phase? Currently really struggling with the newborn phase. Baby has a suspected CMPA and has had a very unsettled start. Currently starting week two of giving her Aptamil Pepti milk - however she's still quite unsettled and has bad reflux which means she keeps bringing up her feeds and is constantly hungry.

Any recommendations as to what helped your baby? Doesnt have to be related to CMPA. Any books/methods that might be useful are welcome too).

I'm aware of posted quite a bit recently but I'm really struggling and don't have much support.

It’s not for everyone but I really rated Gina Fords contented baby book. It’s very routine focussed and BF focus. But really helped me obtain a routine from early on which helped us find a way forward during the darkest of days. PS I would push for proper testing of the allergy instead of trial and error if possible.

Take baby completely off cow milk.
Have you tried gaviscon?

Oh Christ not Gina Ford, made things much worse for me and for a lot of people. She has no advice on what to do if your baby doesn’t follow her routines other than basically saying it’s your fault. And babies with feeding issues won’t fall into her routines.

Your Baby Week by Week isn’t terrible. But mumsnet was honestly better than any book.

The thing to remember is, there is a huge range of babies out there and if yours is tricky, it isn’t because of anything you are doing wrong and others have got right. And it does get better, I promise.

As I said. Not for everyone. But worked well for me with a milk allergy child and my twins.
