Apple TV, Prime, Netflix, Disney - what's the point anymore?

I'm getting so fed up with these platforms.

You pay monthly for subscriptions, and they are now charging for more and more movies and series that used to be included.

I get them charging extra for new releases and premium shows etc, but now I'm having to pay for movies that are 15-20+ years old too (for example, Tom Cruise, War of the Worlds and Oblivion).

Is the only way to not use and not watch, or has anyone found a platform where the subscription fee does actually seem value for money?

And can someone test the algorithm please - is it only charging users for their own preferences or is it across the board?

Totally agree. I have Netflix and Prime but everything I want to watch is on Apple or Disney or is pay extra on Prime, who want £2.49 for a single 22 minute episode of Futurama that they used to have included in the price.

It’s way more cost-effective to buy the series on dvd but why bother that’ll probably be obsolete soon. 👀

I can’t even get Disney or Apple on my TV and don’t wanna buy a new TV just to watch a few movies!!

So I’ve actually changed my tv havits and now watch loads less and spend more time on free sites like Mumsnet 😬 I’d like to cancel Netflix and Prime but DH says no.

The sector has got shit. The anti-competition regulators should really get involved.

I miss Blockbuster 😂

I'm with you, @Ellysetta

I may be misremembering, but I think it used to be that if Apple TV was charging, you could get a film on Prime Video or another platform free and vice versa.

Now it feels they are working together to ensure that all platforms are charging at the same time 😡

Weird thread, it's not efven that much.

You get all the prime shows free with a Prime delivery account, which includes storage and music. Prime for delivery alone is an absolute bargain with all the shopping the wife/kids do.

Netflix UHD is £6 on sky - way cheaper than via Netflix alone

Disney you can get free if you're savvy.

Sky give you 2x fee cinema tickets a month.

Sky cinema (£10/mo) cover the rest.

So that's less than £20/mo for all that. Half a take away.
