Good Morning All! What's everyone up to today?

I'm just about to drink my first cuppa of the day, in my kitchen spot. The girls are still asleep so it's peaceful but not quiet - the washer's spinning the towels I put in on a timer last night to be done by the time I got up. It'll be lovely once that's finished.

I've put tonight's gammon in the slow cooker already, and had a quick tidy round in the living room while the kettle boiled. That's probably it for any sort of housework today.

I'll do hot cross buns for breakfast shortly 😋 then sort a couple of Vinted parcels to post before having a walk to Lidl with dd1 to get cereal for the coming week, and icing sugar for her birthday cake.

When we get back, dd2 has maths homework she's struggling with so I'll look at that with her, then spend the afternoon crafting. She'll probably get an early shower so she can faff with her hair, and dd1 needs to continue her homework she didn't finish yesterday.

My dad's calling for a cuppa at some point so we'll see him when he does.

Gammon for tea, with roast potatoes and veg, then an early shower for me, another attempt at Murdle puzzle 40, and an early night ready for work tomorrow 💤

What about all of you? 🙂

I'm drinking tea while listening to The Archer's. When I've finished my tea I'm going to clear out the desk drawer - it's crammed so full I can hardly get it open.

Later, I've got a letter to write; hopefully there will be writing paper and envelopes buried in the desk drawer somewhere.

Good morning @lucysmam et al, after a very wet night it’s brightening up here so I dropped DH and the dog about 6 miles from here and they are walking back on bridleways and footpaths.
I’ve prepped the roast and vegetables and will probably do some drawing in a bit.
I’ve been awake since 1am with guts ache, no idea what I’ve eaten to cause it 😵‍💫, hot water bottles aren’t doing much.
A quiet day here, I will light the wood burner later and get on with the socks I started a couple of days ago (I gave up with the first attempt at using two colours).
Have a lovely day everyone.

mrsbyers · 21/01/2024 10:54

Just had a cuppa and a croissant now lying snuggled with DDog watching Opal Hunters

First of three loads of washing in the machine and the benches cleared in kitchen

Going to have toad in the hole and veggies later and sweep up outside patio and secure a few things in the garden before the storm hits

stargirl1701 · 21/01/2024 10:54

Recovering from gall bladder surgery. Hoping to get home tomorrow.

Topsy44 · 21/01/2024 10:55

Morning All! A nice slow morning so far, just about to call my 86 year old Mum for a long natter. DD is happily ensconced on the sofa with her Switcb. Online delivery coming after lunch and might watch Mary Poppins this afternoon with DD while intermittently scrolling and reading book.

Then usual uniform and work sorting, Spag Bol for tea followed by showers/baths, Call the Midwife and bed!! Enjoy your Sundays everyone.

MissingMoominMamma · 21/01/2024 11:01

This is my only day off, so I’m lying in bed, propped up by pillows, cuddling the dog.

However, you’ve just reminded me that I bought hot cross buns on my way home last night, so I’m going to get up, light the fire and have breakfast.

lucysmam · 21/01/2024 11:01

@Justonedayatatime11 did you keep them all then? 🤣

@OldTinHat I vote cookies!

Good morning Lucysmam and others. I've had two coffees and two small slices of toast. I've done the Aldi food shop and the towels are in the tumble dryer. I just have a jacket to wash which is grimy. I'm having a cuppa then I'll make lentil soup in the slow cooker. I'll marinade chicken breasts for chicken tikka later. Then I have a parcel to collect and mum to visit. Enjoy your day

legosnowqueen · 21/01/2024 11:02

Good morning @lucysmam

Started the day with the usual dog walk, before the rain started. Just cooked breakfast for DS, he's working his part time restaurant job at 1pm & is now doing revision for week 2 of his mock A Levels. After work, he's off to his work Christmas do which is a meal in the city. Worrying a bit about transport home with the dire weather predictions, as it's a half an hour train journey but there is always Uber I guess.

I will be ironing today, finishing a bit of work, then doing roast chicken for DH & me this evening. Hoping to grab an hour to read my book too.

Stay cosy everyone if you can!

dontforgetme · 21/01/2024 11:06

Good morning @lucysmam and all!

A very very slow morning here, oh has just gone to screwfix to get some anti mould paint. Will be scrubbing and painting this afternoon. I don't plan on leaving the house, after a busy day yesterday.

Ds is on his ps5, will get him off shortly, although I am enjoying the peace right now!

Asda delivery coming this afternoon and we have pie, mash and veg for dinner. Although I have just received an email stating we have 5 subs, haven't looked yet but I'm hoping it's not my pies! Then it's baths/showers and get sorted for the week ahead. Oh and I will carry on with American Nightmare on Netflix tonight and I will probably grab an early night. I'm currently in the throes of a huge eczema flare up and miserable as fuck!

Shergill15 · 21/01/2024 11:11

Morning @lucysmam and everyone. DD currently watching a film. I'm going to have my second coffee then wash my hair. DD needs to do her maths homework - maths not my strong suit so hopefully she won't need much help! Need to do online grocery order and the usual sorting of uniform/work clothes for the week. DD wants to go to messy church this afternoon so we'll do that, hopefully the weather wont be too awful as we walk there. Steak pie for dinner I think then hopefully an early night

Decafflatteplease · 21/01/2024 11:20

Morning @lucysmam and all! Its a rainy windy day here and meant to be like that for the next few days! Amber weather warning in place!

I got up fairly early, had tea in the quiet. Had croissants for breakfast for everyone, got a load of washing on, the usual humdrum morning chores.

About to get a lovely bath while DH plays with DC. Trying to choose a book to read and can't decide!

Also need to drop teen off at the gym this afternoon. Also need to change beds.

Shepherds pie and kale for dinner. No pud though ☹️

Early nights all round tonight, with fresh sheets and fresh pyjamas, simple pleasures!

Peridot1 · 21/01/2024 11:25

Good morning @lucysmam and everyone

I was up very early with the dog and had breakfast and a few cups of tea before going back to bed for a bit. Then had a shower and got dressed.

I am dealing with the ironing basket by re washing most of it! Some of it has been there for months as it’s mostly my summer stuff and I need it again as I’m going to Australia in three weeks. Determined to get it all done this week.

Otherwise a quiet day planned. Reading my book and then roast beef for dinner.

And DH has just appeared and suggested a late cooked breakfast/brunch so he is doing that.

Very glad we don’t need to go out anywhere today.

Moier · 21/01/2024 11:37

Had my cuppa and a slice of jam on toast. Had shower.. dried hair..bit of makeup.. going for a drive to beautiful Knaresborough with my sister.. Will have lunch out.
She will walk her dog round the lido.. I'll sit on the bench all wrapped up..( Fibromyalgia flare).. but l know it does us good to get out.
I'm recording Call the Midwife and Vera( both on at same time).
Just wrapped my youngest Grandsons birthday presents for tomorrow.

Pinenu · 21/01/2024 11:40

@Peridot1 Australia! How exciting. Where about? We’re thinking of going next year.

I’m having a ‘don’t know what to do with myself’ kind of day. I’ll likely go into town for a coffee and a dog walk with a friend then pick up a takeaway on the way home. But so far, I’m struggling to move from the sofa where the dog is fast asleep using me as a foot rest.

Justonedayatatime11 · 21/01/2024 11:48

@lucysmam, erm yes. After losing 1 of them in November, I decided I couldn't trust anyone with them so they're all staying! I think it's the right decision!

Good Morning All! What's everyone up to today?
Good Morning All! What's everyone up to today?
Peridot1 · 21/01/2024 11:53

@Pinenu - Sydney and Melbourne. I go every year (other than Covid obviously) as my best friend is in Sydney. So although I love Australia and do see some of it when I’m there it’s mostly to see friends.

Pinenu · 21/01/2024 12:08

Oh wow @Peridot1 i’ll know where to go for Oz advice then.

Travelling so far to see your friend every year makes me feel very guilty for grumbling about the 10 min trip to see my friend today 😂

legosnowqueen · 21/01/2024 12:24

@Justonedayatatime11 soooo cute & great pics!

Peridot1 · 21/01/2024 12:52

@Pinenu I wish my friend was ten minutes away! That would make life so much easier!

spicedlemonpie · 21/01/2024 12:54

Im doing the same thing i do every day.
Try to take over the world.

WontLetThoseRobotsDefeatMe · 21/01/2024 13:21

I love these weekend threads, thanks @lucysmam and everyone for replying.

DP is driving back from Morecambe to West London later today, so I'm doing some weather tracking so hopefully its not too nasty a drive. Think he'll be heading east of the storm most if the way, but still pretty blustery.

Doing some menu planning for the week, maybe some shopping for food if needed. Prep anything for the weeks dinners as I'm still wiped out from 3 weeks of flu and struggling to stay awake enough to cook once I get home!
Currently on the sofa in a heated blanket eating some homemade melted cheese dip - ultimate comfort lunch!!

Will walk the aged hound later, and spin dry the rug she managed to poop on overnight (clearly an emergency situation as there was a very precise trail culminating in an enormous release just outside her dog flap! Poor girl, so lots of love for her today)

daffodilandtulip · 21/01/2024 13:40

Late joining today's thread after an early up and out! Yesterday we went out for lunch to celebrate the end of mocks (A level and GCSE) and mooched around the charity shops in town. We also got lovely bakery cakes for after today's Sunday dinner...I'm making chops and a few leftover Christmas trimmings from the freezer. I've finally sat down for what feels like the first time all weekend and need to start my coursework for a big DfE thing I've just started. Will do my accounts too as it's pay weekend and I like to keep track monthly so tax returns aren't such a ballache.

Hope you're all having a lovely day.

Anxhor · 21/01/2024 14:34

I ended up driving DD to work because no one told her she had a shift
I then picked up some bits I'd ordered I needed to pick up from boots and Sainsburys
Then after I got back home I decided to go for a long walk into town and got some bits and pieces and got the bus back

Now having a second delicious cup of coffee

I hope your day is going well so far @lucysmam and everyone else

I think after reading this thread it sowed the seed in my head that I should be a bit more active than planned so I'm happy I've been out and about abs feel much better for it

Therealjudgejudy · 21/01/2024 16:03

Had hot chocolate early this morning and put on the first load of washing.

Partner took out the rubbish and all the pizza debris from a fab takeaway last night.

Now going to cook a macaroni cheese for dinner tonight with a glass of red wine. The weather here is awful and I didn't intend to step out of the front door!

Have a great Sunday all!
