Feel like I've been kicked in the chest

I am young and otherwise well. I am in 20s.

My chest feels like it's been badly bruised, not the breasts but the area under them

More so to the right. The pain is amplified if I push my right shoulder forward. Fine if I push the left shoulder forward

Feels really weird. Has anyone pulled a muscle like this before?

It's really made me stop in my tracks

Call you GP or 111 with no history of injury. Especially if you’ve recently had covid or covid like illness. Any swelling or redness In your calves?

CornishPorsche · 18/01/2024 16:32

You need to be seen by a doctor. Have a look at costochondritis.

Thank you

No, no signs of a PE from a clot. No swelling anywhere etc

That's what the first version of covid felt like to me - with the horse that kicked me then sitting on my chest.

However, we have a functioning NHS now, compared to March 2020, so I'd suggest you make an appointment/contact 111 to see whether you've got a chest infection that needs treating or something else. And because it's chest pain, be prepared for being sent to a&e.

Have you got any covid tests?

SLawsonB · 18/01/2024 17:10

Thank you, could it really be Covid with 0 cold symptoms?

Came on very suddenly, a bit like pulling a muscle type of sudden

I have a pulse ox - pulse is 89 (normal) and oxygen is 98 (normal)

So almost certainly not a heart attack Grin

I think I will give 111 a call but can't until a bit later

For reasons relating to caring responsibilities

I was thinking costochindritis, which I have had. If inflammation of the cartilage around the rib cage. I still get minor flare ups it’s literally follows the line around my ribs. I would call 111 though.

Agree with this. I had it from constantly holding one of my grandchildren. Can you think of anything you might have done to cause it. Might not have even hurt much at the time.

Sounds like costco

SLawsonB · 18/01/2024 18:00

That's interesting because it came on sharply and suddenly when I picked my toddler up
