Would you take a tracker mortgage rate right now?

Mortgage ends in a few months, there is a possibility we may want to move in the next year or 2, but again we may not. Asking as I'm sure people on here will have more knowledge than me - would you think it's a good idea to take a tracker/flexible mortgage rate out at the moment? It would mean an extra £30-£40 a month than what it would be if we took out a fixed deal.

No, but then I’m very risk averse. If we’d been on a tracker rate when Truss caused chaos we’d have been in huge trouble!
Isn’t this an election year? I’d want to know how things were going to look first tbh.

I personally avoid tracker mortgages as I like to know where I stand. I'd find the uncertainty or a tracker stressful.

Don't let moving house put you off fixing a rate, just go for a mortgage that is portable (means if you move house you take it with you, penalty free).

When looking at fixed periods, consider if your mortgage comes with fees and the costs these add to your mortgage. A two year fix may seem appealing, but if it comes with a £1k fee each time you remortgage, then a five year fix may work out cheaper.

Best thing to do is speak with an independent broker.
