Fiction book about a reluctant school mum

Hello,
I was just wondering if any fiction readers on mumsnet would be interested in a novel about a reluctant school mum? Basically about a mum's reluctance to become a "school mum" when her daughter starts p1, and her trials and tribulations, twists and turns relating to school-related things, whilst juggling her own personal changes - work, different parent stage, personal growth, ups and downs, career change.

Thanks

Sounds interesting!!

Nope. Not exactly a unique story!

I’m sure there would be a market for it. It doesn’t sound like something I would be desperate to read but perhaps some would.

I think there are already various chick lit type books with that kind of storyline, I’m sure I’ve read some so there is a market for if.

StarlightLime · 18/01/2024 12:34

There's definitely a market, yes.

Maybe post over in the Creative Writing topic, OP? I think you'd have to work out what your mum's character arc was going to be and how she would grow and change as a person as a result of her child going to school.

Depends on what the main plot line is.

cancany174 · 18/01/2024 12:46

Nope. Can I guess the plot. She's scatty and single, her five year old is whitty and clever. She slowly falls in love with the dishy headmaster/ school dad after several misunderstandings of course.

Sounds quite a lot like the show Motherland and that's very popular!

eurochick · 18/01/2024 13:15

I was about to say it sounds like a book version of motherland. It's not for me, but that kind of thing does seem to have a market.
