Hello everyone,

Has anyone got any experience of Belfast for a city break? We're thinking of going in a couple of weeks and I wondered if anyone has been and what it's like - is there lots to do and see?

I used to live there. There's loads to see and do. The main "big" attraction is the Titanic museum and environs. There's also a nice compact walk around the CS Lewis Square in Strandtown, and lots of indie cafes and shops at the end of that road as well.

There's a lovely beach at Holywood.

If you're interested in Irish history, Falls Road has an interesting memorial as well as the Culturlann (cultural centre which includes some Irish-language stuff).

There are a few NT places dotted around as well.

If you're taking a car or hiring one, there are lots of little secluded spots out of the city where you can take a short trip to see some stunning scenery.

And the best thing about NI is that there are so few tourists (aside from at the Causeway) that you pretty much get the place to yourself and the locals.

I don't know how to fit everything into 2/3 days but hopefully those suggestions will give you some things to look at.

Oh and if your little ones are the right age for soft play, we loved Roar and Explore in Dunmurray.

I've done 2 city breaks to Belfast - what you do really depends on the age of the people with you ! I really enjoyed the Titanic Museum, did a few self guided walking tours from a guidebook, went to some really interesting pubs on the walking tours. I didn't rent a car so did a bus trip to see the causeway etc (that was a bit of a faff to be honest, I find coach trips a bit trying to be honest - but the causeway was worth it).

I really liked that St Georges market hall for a bit of a poke around - a weird mix of food, useful things and knitwear.
