The other day we were in an Iceland store.
We were waiting in the small queue at the till
Immediately before me and my OH was a lady in here
60's with two items resting on the edge of the conveyer belt
that takes goods to the cashier. A minute later a woman came with
a small basket full of goods. They exchanged a smirk and the woman with the basket emptied her items onto the conveyor belt. My OH said to me
, and the woman pushed in. I said it's okay they are together. Then, the first woman
picked up one of those plastic markers that you put on the belt to separate people shopping, she put this between her 2 items and her like-minded ignorant friends.
My OH said to me in a quiet voice they think they are clever. There were people behind us and one said "There no point telling people off as they are often shameless." He had a point IMO.
We did spend another 30 seconds discussing this pair of ill-informed, uneducated and ignorant women. TBH, I felt humiliated, I should not but it was a form of bullying by uneducated, shameless parasites like, we should have challenged them but got caught out by their trick, EG, later putting the plastic divider between the two ladies shopping so they paid separately.
Are we and the others in the queue are cowards or just sensible, law-abiding people who avoid getting involved with shameless people? In hindsight, I think we did the right thing but it still hurts that people like that bully others and get away with it. (I believe I would have said something if it had not been for their trick, IE, pretending to be together as one customer receipt.)
The only words of comfort I can recall is from years ago when I witnessed a queue jumper like these fools who were challenged by another customer in the queue. The queue jumper was then refused to be served by the lady at the till and had to do the walk of shame to the back of the queue
(I'm not referring to one half waiting at the till with a load of shopping and then the other half coming in with last-minute items. I'm clearly talking about cheats who think they are clever and bigger and entitled to take advantage of others, that is until they meet someone who makes them see sense.)
The majority of our shopping is online, home delivery and it's experiences like this that put me off shopping.
Btw, the two clowns did not make eye contact with anyone in the queue - clear they knew what they were playing at and I hope someone teaches them a lesson in community skills, soon.
