I have paint left from doing my sons room. I have shown a pic of the wall to show the colours I have.

Also a pic of the toilet so you can see the room . It's not the best pic . Imagine it empty 🤣

So what can I do thats a bit different and a little mad . No dark colours.

Pick one or two colours and paint 10cm wide stripes on the wall and continue up on to the ceiling and down the other wall.

There's no way I would get a straight line. I'm totally useless with straight lines even if I have the things I need to do it

I know I have done it badly. But if it's done properly would it look stupid .

Is that second picture in your op your son's room?

I don't think you should basically do the same as your son's room. How room is col bit out doesn't want to look like the bathroom decor.

Have a look at David Hockney’s pool paintings of light reflecting on water for inspiration. The technique is quite simple. A bit like your DS’s room with wigglier lines 😂

How about a large mandala?

Luckydog7 · 17/01/2024 19:20

Paint it white. Use a cool geometric stencil with a sponge instead of a brush. Overlap stencil over and over with new colour. Repeat

Luckydog7 · 17/01/2024 19:23

Like this fish one!! You could draw little eyes on each of them!

A tesselating pattern like above would be great in that colour combo. Doesn't need to be fish. Could make your own easily enough.

Luckydog7 · 17/01/2024 19:28

Or a leaf pattern like this. There are simpler ones too if this is too much

This thread has reminded me of my best friend in infant school and their downstairs loo. It was painted blue and the walls were covered in fish and sea creatures made out of plasticine 😂 Fimo would be more hard wearing but it didn’t exist back then.

That might be a bit too mad though!

I like the newspaper/ sheet music decoupage but might be a bit Weatherspoons?

How about something inspired by Matisse’s paper cutouts? You could make a stencil to use. If you can’t draw your own shapes, print out the original to cut out the shapes. Like this:

I would do faux panels, and add wallpaper on canvas frames. If you want to use up paint tone those down, add a chalk base.

BasiliskStare · 17/01/2024 21:50

What about painting in order a yellow at the top - mix a bit of white in so not blocky then the pale blue ( same with the white ( and just do a few brush strokes over both while not quite dry ) then the green in upwards brush strokes and then dot some red and purple on the green - & with a spray thing spray the paint before completely to make it look more blurry it might look like a summer meadow . If you use a roller and don't worry too much about straight edges it might look a bit impressionist - you will have to let one colour dry After brush strokes before next applied before doing the water thing but if it is meant to be slightly impressionistic - although I see you like straight lines so may not be for you.

Have a google of Sally Stafford Artist in the Forest of Dean to see what I am talking of. Here - a bit of playing around might be fun

I'll get my coat ha ha @Shamefullhouse
